VOZ Orl This Then?

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

VOZ is a wonderful invention - it is huge and grips the imagination.
It also takes over your sim in a big way, and has some loose ends which can leave legaciy problems with textures not restoring correctly, and loss of data.
VOZ AI ate my stock Beechcraft for example.
And it assumes you have no other AI airliners installed. (I fixed that one recently with a stripped-down VOZ1 AI traffic file which sticks to OZ planes).
I was interested to see a VOZ offering on Flightsim, for an FS9 YSSY.

I wondered if anyone had looked at this and could share their opinion, as it seemed to me to be no better than (lightly tweaked) stock, and ate frame rates due to the RWY12 textures it employs.

While VOZ is one of my favourite addons, the Sydney airport isn't my favourite aspect of the package, put it that way. The default FS9 airport and city was actually pretty good, with the photoreal and all. I'm not a big fan of ground clutter all over the place unless it's high res FlyTampa quality, I think the VOZ scenery was built with EZ-Scenery?

Amen to that.
I couldn't figure out if the offering on flightsim was in fact part of the original package, or what?

As regards the stock airport: All you need to do is add AEU7, a decent AFCAD for some extra parking, and some solid AI, and you're cooking with gas.
It's because the whole deal is consistent - no gaps in the skyline over Sydney in the distance, just enough detail in the airport, capped by decent photoreal.
It really is a very good flightsim experience.

Very nice montage Charl- what AFCAD are you running there, and is that AEU7 you have for the textures?

Also, how come there are jetways included in your scenery, is that VOZ or another addon again?

AFCAD is yssy04.zip by Mark Harris
Yes AEU7 in use, I thought it did jetways too...
If not, then that woud be one of the Jetways and Terminals packages (although I don't see YSSY in any of my downloads)

I don't generally do VOZ, it is scary how it takes over the sim without permission. I am a manual VOZZER :ph43r:

Didint think it was too bad Charl.
The gaps in the skyline were a little disturbing, (guess there excludes take in a little too larger area,...... nothing that cant be modified :) ).
The building textures are EZ Scenery, not Runway-12, and there are a lot of custom buildings there , if you have a good look around.
Im only getting 2 to 3 fps less than the default airport, but still perfectly flyable and stutter free.
Im going to try it out with the Sydney City and Harbour improvements by Clive Marriot, and the Sydney Seaplane bases package by Clive Marriot, hopefully this weekend if i can find the time.

S'pose I'm being a little harsh with it - there's nothing actually Wrong there, I am just soo comfortable with the stock airport (!) that I don't much see the point of doing something that isn't photoreal textured with full animation, is all.
Be interested to see some shots of those CM improvements, I think I had some at one time but they and their links have sunk into the mists  of time

I always had this, was there ever something to remove it completly, you could remove bits but they never really made much of a differance. I always thought it could be better if it wasn't there.

Thanks
