Coromandel textures problem...

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Redda03 » Thu Feb 07, 2008 8:43 am

Following this post with keen interest!!

Have managed to get rid of the FS9 "blurries" by disabling the Static Objects Library....needless to say this is rather unsatisfactory so I am still pursuing a permanent fix.

From what I have gleaned from members imputs it appears that I must first "purge" by system of duplicate Static Object Lib texture files that appear in other texture folders....ie: FS9 Texture, Addon Scenery Texture and FS9 Scenery Texture.

Would appreciate confirmation that this the correct process.

Cheers,

Bob,

Is this an overall problem for you or specific to some airstrips only....?

Bazza,

Specific to Lawrie Roache's addons....particularly Pauanui Beach....and the odd intermittent blurrie at Taupo.

Bob,

Go back to my post of the 2 Feb and try disabling the files mentioned, as a complete "try on." Fences worked for me and Charl. If it makes no difference, what the heck !

Lately I have remembered why I am not bright enough to "do scenery." as a designer.....

Thanks for your response. I tried removing both of the FCE bgl files from the Kaikohe airport Scenery folder as you suggested but it made no difference. I didn't actually think it would as I was getting blurries even at the default Kaikohe airport. I therefore suspect that Kerikeri is causing it (as it is not far away) but don't know why. Kerikeri does not have any FCE files but it does include the zinc, planter rims and guages files in its Texture folder. I have deleted the Kerikeri Texture folder and am no longer getting blurries when taking off and landing there. Just this problem when starting a flight from Kaikohe where the trees t the airport are distorted and after takeoff the landscape is blurred. (Tried to include a screenshot but couldn't figure out how).

Cheers
Trevor

Did a bit more testing this evening re my blurries problem when starting a flight at Kaikohe (both default airport and Lawrie's version).

1. I de-activated Lawries Kerikeri airport and then started a flight at Lawries Kaikohe airport. For the first time - no distorted airport trees at Kaikohe. Flew to the default Kerikeri and no blurries anywhere.

2. I re-activated Lawries Kerikeri and started a flight from there. No distorted trees at the airport. I flew a few circuits and no blurries anywhere.

3. I re-enabled the Zinc03, Planter Rims and Gauges textures in my Static Objects folder. (I had previously re-named them as I suspected they were causing problems). I then started a flight at Kerikeri and the airport trees were badly distorted. I disabled these three textures again and tried a few more circuits from Kerikeri. I also did a flight to Kaikohe. No blurries anywhere.

4. I then tried starting from Kaikohe again. Once again, badly distorted airport trees. I tried refreshing the textures by hitting the ALT key but the distortion remained. Eventually I just toodled my aircraft around the airport grounds and after a while the trees sprung into their normal shapes. I took off and no blurries anywhere.

I really do not know what to conclude from this.

Check out the following thread for more info and fixes for the "blurries".

There are a couple of suspect corrupt textures in a couple of the object libraries, including those mentioned above.

Bazza,

There is no post for 2 Feb....I can only assume you are referring to your post of 6 Feb re NZWT AerClbBarFce.bgl and NZWT AprnBarFce,bgl.

As my blurries are mainly appearing at Pauanui Beach I cannot see how these two files could be affecting performance at NZUT.

I have "purged" my FS9 Texture and FS9 Addon Scenery Texture folders of duplicate SOL files (and there were plenty of them) and this has made no difference.....have decided to give the problem a rest and use FSX for the area.

Cheers,

Kaikohe blurries problem finally resolved. After I deleted several versions of the Zinc texture (plus variants) which I found in various locations there are no blurries when I start a flight at Kaikohe.

There is a KNOWN issue with the zinc.bmp texture.
See the thread in the link below for the new replacement mipped "non-blurry" causing zinc.bmp texture.

Thanks Lawrie

I have now installed the replacement zinc texture and no blurries being experienced.
I have also re-instated the suspect Planter Rims and Gauges textures and these do not appear to be causing any problems now. So it looks like zinc was the only culprit.

I too have the "bluuries" problem with Lawrie's sceneries. I've tried all of the above suggetions, except the fences one, and the only one that worked was shutting down the objects library. I also had some texture problems with library aircraft objects even though there were no dupes. I had removed all of those. I was able to get them to work by moving those textures to the FS9 texture folder. While I have the Object Library disabled, I still have all the textures for Lawrie's Thames scenery even though they are in the Objects library folder, and some of them for Milford Sound, although some are now missing. I don't know what's going on, but I may have to move all the object textures to the FS9 texture folder until a solution is found.

Jim D.

Edit: Well moving some textures to FS9 Texture didn't work. Still missing some @ NZMF. Blurries for me occured at Milford as well. Would a reinstall of the OBJ Lib. help? I would not
like to go through all of that.

I see today that there are some updates for Sidney Schwartz's EZ libraries on Avsim, to remove the blurries.

Thanks for the message. I went and downloaded the new replacement textures, added them to the Obj Lib, reactivated the lib and it worked beautifully!!!! In fact, there is now much more to see and not one blurrie. I did a flight from Milford Sound to Queenstown, then a short one at Thames, fantastic. These two airports was where I began to notice the blurries. Now all is well again. Thanks Sidney for redoing those textures.
