I knew yours was here somewhere but couldn't find it. I am trying to get those 5 bids filled :)

Even if they don't all fill it'll still be a great night I'm sure

Hi guys,

Happy Birthday VATNZ! :D >nzflag<

I thought I'd post a brief report of my flight tonight. I decided to do a VFR cross-country in FGH - a Piper Archer II operated by South Canterbury Aero Club.

I started at Ohakea, flew to Palmy for a touch and go, then on down to Paraparaumu, did a standard overhead join for touch and go on RWY 11.

From NZPP I headed south, and called Wellington Tower about 15 miles out of Wellington for joining instructions.

Once I found Petone Wharf, I continued into the Harbour and orbited over the Somes VRP while some IFR traffic landed.

I then continued my approach behind a 737-800, and landed right on the touchdown zone :D

Andrew, thanks for your professional controlling, it gave me a good chance to practice my phraseology for my FRTO written exam on Thursday ;)

I also enjoyed the chance to practice my spot landings, because I've been selected to fly in the Junior Landing portion of the Wigram Cup competition at the Flying NZ National Championships at Timaru 7th - 9th February, so I've been doing plenty of practice on the landing grid (in real life) ;)
See http://www.flyingnz.co.nz/competition_details_nationals.html for more info on the Nationals.

Thanks,

Matt

Yes Happy Birthdat VatNZ and thanks everyone! :D

Had an enjoyable/stressfull flight, CH - WN, WN - AA in the 738 PBN.

Took my dad in the jumpseat, wanted to know how I spend most of the hours of my day. :whoops: He thought it was very interesting how real it was. First off the ATC (brilient BTW thanks heaps! but also the real world weather. (we were in Chutem (if thats how you spell it) park for a bbq at lunch, watching the planes fly over because the people's house was right under the approach path for WN 16.

Again happy birthday and thanks for this very enjoyable night, most ATC and traffic I've ever seen in NZ on Vatsim

Must do it more often *hint, hint*

Cheers

Had a great time. Went on and did my C2 exam on IVAO last night too, sometime after two in the morning we finaly had enough traffic go through, a four hour long exam, but it went well. And I am now a IVAO C2! Was a great night!

Thanks

Wellington was well suited for a NZ event for mimicking real world ops. The event showed greater involvement for all ATC and pilots who participated, giving greater frequency and shorter legs from all directions. Perfect for a 1st Birthday bash!

vANZ had a good turnout with Jamie Marshall, Alister Curnow, James Mckay and myself completing a number of legs, plus all that used the ANZ call sign - see the stats http://www.vataware.com/airline.cfm?icao=ANZ

Like a few others I had some aircraft and server issues too, but thankfully both engines didn't simultaneously hang on short finals. That would of ruined my night :P
