New Zealand Airstrips Addon!

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby ScottyB » Sun Dec 16, 2007 9:34 am

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of a good FREEWARE add-on for some New Zealand small airstrips or bushstrips???? I would love to have an add-on that has some small strips in places such as Fiordland, Canterbury high country, Otago, Mt Cook region, Nelson area (Tasman Bay and Golden bay), etc, etc.

Thanks

Roads & Rivers of New Zealandis not freeware but the closest you will get.
Over 3,500 airstrips to be exact.
If you're flying in NZ without the SimPilot Experience products of Mountains, and R+R of NZ, do yourself a favour this Christmas...

Cool man can't wait. I think that ScottyB was talking about non-AIP strips however. Strips like this one

Really lookin forward to seeing your Hanmer though, I've had a look there a few times myself.

I remember someone from NZFF doing a couple and uploading them to AVSIM. The forum thread is here, but I can't seem to find it on AVSIM any more.

Hanmer Springs is a shocking strip, it takes the cake. Even worse than Wharepapa South

I'm just wondering what use a strip like this could possibly have! So you fly in, standard overhead rejoin, upwind, crosswind, downwind, base, final, you land... then what?

hahaha I don't think you would find too many people doing that kinda cr@p down there  Tis a TOPDRESSING strip, land, turn round, fill up with super and take off again

And a pet hate: standard overhead REJOIN gosh only if ya left there and are comin back...

Then you really want the Sim Pilot Experience (nee Red Baron) Roads and Rivers of NZ...

As Charl mentioned previously, it contains over 3500 airstrips all over the place... I believe Gokanru has found most of them (at least in the 'naki) with his trusty DC3 ;)

Haha, yes, won't be forgetting that one in a hurry. At least Wharepapa South has proper runways, even if they are pretty rugged. :P

No, I am going to stick with the default/VOZ SE mesh mainly because I like to have the change of scenery with the seasons, specially the South Is airports with the snow.
I am also working on Gore.
