New NZFF In-Flight Module

We have just developed a brand new module for browsing the net inside on your kneeboard inside fs2004, so that you don't need to leave your simulator screen anymore to access the internet.

It works very simply.

All you need to do is drop the two files included in the linked zip file into your main FS2004 directory/Aircraft folder and you are ready to go. (Make sure you back up your old kneeboard_keys.htm file first)



Once in any of your installed aircraft, hit F10 to access the kneeboard and click on the capital "A' icon on the right hand side. Instead of seeing your ordinary key commands list, you will see a new menu above the list of keys, with the main top banner linked to NZFF and a few other handy sites below so you can check who is online on multiplayer, do a bit of shopping, or download some new files. Your keyboard will basically act like a internet browser with out any of the "forward', "back' and "home' keys or an address bar for entering URL's. To go back to the "home' page, just click on the "A' icon on the right hand side.



This feature will hopefully keep you occupied on long haul flights and the like, so you can visit the forums while you are on autopilot. Enjoy!

Awesome just what i was thinking about tonight wanting to check the site and keep the m/p going ....now can you do us a nice cdplayer and television for the centre console

Unfortunately I already have an add-on kneeboard page from VPA (www.virtualpilots.org), and I will be keeping it as it allows me to access more info pertaining to my flight than this one. But a very nice idea, I'm sure it will catch on.

Like Alex, I run an independent "widget" (HiFi Sim's freeware FSBrowser) which does not require the KneeBoard to view on-line content. But I too applaude Trolly's effort.

As for a CD Player, do a search for R.L. Clark's FS2002/FS2004 Gauge: AM/FM Radio CD Player. It can be configured to be installed into a panel or as a seperate pop-up window. Great for listening to your favourite music whilst cruisin' at altitude.

Hi guys,

This kneeboard idea fascinates me. I'm sure more could be done. The second version of my humble attempts is now at Avsim under the filename of in-flight_vs2.zip. Assume it works in FSX, but I developed it on FS9.

I've been trying to make it like a pop-up, independant of Flight Sim, but without success. Maybe the FSBrowser from Hi Fi might be what I'm looking for. I'm sure more could be done by someone more geeky-minded.

FS uses an HTML file for the kneeboard files, so it should be relatively easy (if you know HTML fairly well) to create a good-looking, functional portal page.

I don't think it works in FSX however; as far as I know it doesn't interpret kneeboard files in HTML.

I havnt tested this yet but...

FSX files can be found in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Uires\kneeboard_keys.htm

Although I would probably replace the 'No mission briefing' file instead (i.e. the text that says "There is no briefing available for this flight")....obviously if there is a briefing, it will show....if there isnt you may as well make use of this new button and keep your keys reference.

The no briefing file for FSX is called "nobrief.htm" in that same directory
