Hi guys...

I am working on my next aviation project... and am looking at building a lightweight 'in-ear' headset for flying... I have a good lead on some decent 'in-ear' headphones that other people have used to do this, and can get them for around US$50...

What I need now is a microphone (+ associated electronics) and the pre-molded microphone and headset plugs/cables for a standard GA headset... (ie. 1/4" plug for headphone, .206" plug for microphone... and a 5' to 6' cable)

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to source these components separately (replacement mics = easy, but as far as I can tell they dont come with the controller electronics which are usually contained within the earcup), I can find 1/4" plugs easily, but not .206" ones etc...

So I thought I would try the common approach of 'scavanging' the bits from an old headset... unfortunately, I do not have one lying around... and the only ones I can find on TradeMe are flash (read: expensive) David Clarks or cost well over $100 etc... sad.gif

As I am trying to keep the costs of this project down (so the Financial Controller does not ask too many questions) I do not want to spend anymore than maybe $50...

Even a broken headset would do... cracked earcups, broken mic boom, broken headband etc... as long as the mic still works OK... and the plugs and cables are still in one piece.

So, if anyone out this has an old crappy and/or broken headset they want to flog off... or has an uncle/friend/sister/colleague that does... please PM me.

cheers,
Jared
