NZFF - VOZ Joint Multiplayer Night

Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Postby ardypilot » Sun Sep 23, 2007 3:23 pm

Hi all.

With our new partnership with VOZ Powered News, sim pilots from both sides of the "ditch' have expressed interest in creating a Trans Tasman flight together online with multiplayer.

We haven't set any dates or flight plans in stone yet, but I've been given the task by Gazza to organise this event.

First off, we need a private server to run this flight on. ZK-MAT previously set up one on an old computer of his, with a password lock for us during the last TTEC flight; but due to changing his ISP, he unfortunately can't provide that service for us again. Having said this, we are hoping someone can volunteer their own resources and provide a FSHost for the flight, using the default connection method to allow FS2002, FS2004 and FSX pilots to all fly together without requiring VATSIM or IVAO membership. If you think you could do this, please PM either myself of ZK-MAT who is happy to help you with the setting up process winkyy.gif

Also, if you are willing to provide ATC services (on a private teamspeak server we are hoping to set up in conjunction with the above mentioned server) for large airports in NZ, oceanic airspace or a large airport on the east coast of Australia, please post your name in this thread.

I've been thinking a good route would be for all pilots, both the NZFF and VOZ members, to start off in airports on the Aussie coast, then fly together, not necessarily in formation, over to chosen airports on the North or South Islands, and have a good old chit chat on the way. Whatever aircraft you choose to fly is up to you, I'm guessing the majority of people will pick Boeing or Airbus airliners or private jets to make the trip.

Please post below if you have any simular ideas, are interested in joining in, or could suggest a suitable date when you would be available for the flight.

Cheers,
Andew

I might be interested in providing a wee bit of ATC if people don't mind - depends on the interface though, FSNav is horrible to use for ATC after you're used to IvAc. tongue.gif

I'm not sure if I'll be able to stay on for the duration - but that will depend on the date. winkyy.gif

Sounds a good idea. Will the session be suitable for newbies?

I would be interested in providing ATC, I have ATC software which can connect directly to any FSHost server winkyy.gif

I could join up with Alex maybe.

Any thoughts on a proposed date?

Well I've offered a server - not sure how many it can handle, but I'll leave it up this weekend so we can test it. mpflt.ath.cx password is babysam

Please remember - if you're flying fs9 - please lock frames at 25 - if you are getting 100fps you're sending data to everyone 100 times per second, get 5 people doing that, suddenly the server is trying to send 5 people 500 frames per second each - 2500 requests per second smile.gif

not sure if fsx is the same.

No voice server at this stage, wouldn't be able to handle the bandwidth.

Please let me know your experiences with it, I will try and fly on it a bit over the weekend as well, so would love to see people flying around NZ at this stage only.
When asked what I have contributed to on this earth my reply will be my daugther

I may try. How long will each leg be? (you aren't doing the whole flight in one night are you?)
Also I'm guessing GA Aircraft?

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

I'm thinking of holding say a five hour long session and you may fly whatever you wish during that time. I'm thinking large private jet or a small airliner and island hopping- its up to you winkyy.gif

yup alll one leg kelburn ,these are one big flight 9hr max if you are flying rotorwing lol ,lots of Vs drinks and the chit chat to last 9hrs max ,there are about 4 stops on the way but getting to know everyone on tha way makes time go real fast,,norfolk is a stop normally but with the heavys therer will be no stops most prob ,ive done this flight 4 times now and im in for it again with our neighbours ozzy land ,should make fopr some good contacts if we as NZ can get our numbers up winkyy.gif
so dont just think about it all , get your name up here and join in the flight of 2007 .
start thinking about it all what you will fly and get into it ...
lets show that we as fsx fs2004 even 2002 can all join in the fun and show we have the numbers to go that extra mile winkyy.gif
