I'm really at a loss to figure out what the problem is here. I have re-installed FS 4x this week to try to rectify the problem but it doesn't seem to make any difference. The only addons I have installed are a few planes, the NZ mesh & Topo scenery, aswell as FS Real Time.

In this picture at Nelson, NZ you can see that there's grass over parts of the runway:

This is Palmerston Nrth, NZ and when I go to takeoff the grass keeps following the plane up the runway covering it.

This time at a small airfield Oamaru in South Isl, again the same grass texture problem, and when I come into land the runway dissapears and grass covers it.

This is Masterton a small field in the North Isl, the runway is almost see thru and elevated maybe a good 50ft above the ground and if you taxi off the side you drop.

Is anyone able to shed some light on how to fix this problem?

Cheers,
Chris Donaldson

If you have reinstalled, then this may not be the problem, but it does look like the result that some people get from using the Real NZ Wellington replacement flatten file. Make sure you don't have any Godzone flattens left over in Scenery\Ocen\scenery. These will start with gvf.

Hi Robin,

Thanks for the suggestion, I had a look in Scenery/Ocen/Scenery and found "FL994460.gvf" not sure whether that's the file you mentioned but removed that and didn't fix the problem so I'm really at a loss as to what it could be. Only seems to go corrupt after installing RealNZ Welly.

Just done a clean install of FS9, put the 20mesh, Topo & FS Real Time in, then tested at Masterton, everything was fine so went ahead and installed RealNZ Wellington, and after activating the scenery the flatten file has corrupted something and I have the same problem again.

Any solution Robin?

Robin,

Trying to understand what you mean by deleting the Godzone Flattens. I have deleted the only .gvf file I could find "FL994460.gvf" and it doesn't fix the problem. A friend of mine also has the same problem and we are not sure what to do.

If this issue has been raised before, is there a fix for the problem?

Yes, this is probably a result of the Real NZ Wellington flatten. I know I've got instructions on how to reactivate the default flatten, I just need to track it down here...
The problem is that my new flatten has rounding errors, which show up at some close-by airports with some meshes.

Ok,I found it. In Scenery\Ocen\scenery:

Rename FL994460.GVF to FL994460.bgl
Rename GVF994460.bgl to GVF994460.bak.

The only real difference should be that there's a chunk cut out of the hill above the airport with the default flatten.

Yeah, come to think of it, it may have been a bit of an overkill ravaging the surrounding countryside just to fix a little dimple...
Thanks for your comment, Andrew.
