Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Postby Timmo » Fri Aug 10, 2007 4:30 pm

Hi-Ive just uploaded a new version of Whale Island...
'But hang on Tim, havent you already released Whale Island?'
'Sure have....but this is MEGA SUPER DOOPER HIGH RESOLUTION!!!!!'

...and its actually quite a small download (around 10mb). It also includes a high res, 5m mesh....just in time for this months screen shot competition!

File name is BopIslands_WhaleHiRes.zip and should hopefully be visible on Avsim soon. It should also be linked from Flightsim.co.nz

In the mean time.....check out some screenies to show all those pesky Fs9 users what us FSXers can do winkyy.gif

Enjoy :excited:

Stunning stuff- if only all of NZ was that quality in FSX- I'd buy a new computer especially to run it!

Amazing amount of detail. Don't forget, folks, to turn up your mesh and texture settings to take advantage of this scenery.
What's the cvx file meant to do, Timmo? I need to remove it to get the scenery to work, otherwise I get a LOD9 landclass tile.

err...dammit....I knew I should have tested that! Its the new flatten on top of the island where the helo pad sits....I forgot to set the projection of the file i think (even though it, apparently, isnt needed)...this causes the 'brown deserty water' effect for the LOD9 tile around the island....

I also need to release a shoreline exlude to get rid of the small portions of default shoreline showing through

I couldnt test it as the work machine was busy crunching contours
Just disable it (rename to .bak) until i fix it

File is cvxWhaleHiRes.bgl from memory

Hi Guys- Ive posted the patch on Avsim for a problem that the helicopter flatten was causing (big block of 'desert' over the water). You will see this 'linked' to the actual download of the scenery

Cheers
