Just heard that there was a collision on a taxiway at Ardmore today. :unsure:

It appears that an aircraft was exiting the runway and collided with another on the taxiway. The aircraft involved were ZK-XAT & ZK-TAT. Both are operated by Ardmore Flying School. XAT is one of the new G1000 aircraft acquired recently. Only wings on both aircraft were damaged, severity unknown at this stage. :ph43r:

No injuries at all

More details will follow as soon as I know.

Lol nothing major
Both should be back in the fleet soon.
TAQ is going off to get a new engine.

Here is how it goes

TAT is going to get repaired using parts from XAT
XAT is going to get repaired using parts from TAQ while its in geting a new engine.

That means both planes will be back in the fleet in no time.

TAQ will get its long awaited engine (its chuggin through the oil atm)

Then i think they will get all their parts back or TAQ gets new ones

XAT was up at WR with me so it must have happened reasonably late in the arvo!

I know all, but it isnt nice to spread stuff about accidents as it is something anybody could do.... and everyone should be grateful there wasnt any injuries/major damage...

Fully agreed...

And if you read the tone of my first post, it passes no comment on the event, its merely an informative bit of info.

Its just a little amusing how things go round in this aviation training community of New Zealand, and who says what and who says nothing...

Flew TAQ this morning; seems like it's going off to maintenance either this afternoon or tomorrow sometime. TAQ is losing one wing which will be bolted on to XAT, and TAQ will then get a new wing. (well, hopefully anyway

Another incident at Ardmore today:

ZK-JED one of the Ardmore Flying School Beech Duchess' had an indication of the the gear not locking (ie. no three greens). The aircraft flew around for about 25 mins (with the aerdrome closed) while about 6 fire engines, a fire command truck, 3 police cars, a response controller from Auckland Airport and a couple of ambulances arrived at the airport. The aircraft landed with no incident as two fire trucks chased it down the runway.

The pilots did a supreme job in bringing the aircraft down smoothly and stopping without making the gear collapse. Also good to see Ardmore's emergency response.

The instructor looked a little worse for wear afterwards...

BTW this happens all the time at AR, usually just the micro switch on the gear.

Hello All....

Today events were due to a flickering gear light that eventually went out...

Maintenance concluded that is was no more that a blown bulb.

That would have been interesting to listen to on my scanner- someone text me next time (if there is a next time) something like this happens please!

Glad no one was hurt, unlike the recent mishap in Tahiti!

Hardly all the time... Otherwise there wouldnt have been such a response.

Nevertheless it would have been great training for the student. Oh and it was the microswitch this time
