Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Postby gazza » Mon Aug 06, 2007 9:48 pm

By now many of you maybe aware of the Voz Powered News (VPN). Due to our ongoing commitment to our members, both Nationally & Internationally and our continued Growth, the VPN is now opening it's international correspondence desk. VPN & NZFF have joined forces to bring you a new addition to the VPN called the ANZAC's. This section is devoted to our trans- Tasmin friends and highlights what is happening in the New Zealand Flight Simulation Community. We are looking for NZ members to write articles, produce shots & images and contribute to our joint efforts. The VPN would also require members to conduct product reviews for the NZ commercial and freeware producs as well as reports on what is happening over there with regards to any other information such as home cockpit builders and VA's.

So if you think you have what it takes and you wish to become part of the International correspondence desk then let me know ASAP.
I can be contacted via Pm, either here or at Voz. Alternativly you can send an email to gazcin@bigpond.com.au

Kindest Regards

Yep guys- I have given Gazza and the VPN team permission to source some content they find here at NZFF in thier upcoming publications (although I will check it first to make sure the original authors are ok with it), so look out for any screenies or information you post in the next issue, which has a worldwide auidence of around 300,000 viewers!

You definately have a point there Craig, and I will definately make sure to bring it up should we be contacted regarding this. This will be one of those "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it" sort of things. winkyy.gif

G'day guys before you get yourselves all worked up, please finish reading the sentence "and also will be subject to rights on publication refuseal".
This means that if we you ar not the lawful owner of the subject or the lawful owner of the subject can not be contacted in any way shape or form the subject will not be published....

Thanks for your understanding

Craig, I'll have a chat to Trolly about it.

What is there to talk about- it sounds to me like there is a mountain is being made out of a molehill?

Gazza has explained what was 'half quoted' above: If you or the VPN team are unable to get in contact with the original owner, the matter WILL be put before the board of directors at NZFF, and also will be subject to rights on publication refuseal.

For those who obviously don't understand- it means that nothing will be published in VPN without the authors permission!

However, since you guys have kicked up such a fuss, VPN have told me that, at this time, the publication will not be going ahead and all other media and advertise will desist immedately. All we were trying to do here was improve trans-tasman flight sim relations. If no one wants to do this, then we can cancel the whole thing, but I thought there would be a lot more positive interest in this.

If you are keen on seeing this go ahead, please contribute here!

when i heared of this subject i thought it sounded like a great way to show our little slice of paradise ,and put our sporting realations to the side and bring on our passion for fs within a wider comunity
i say go for it ,,why not it doesnt make sence not to when we have chatted about what each other have been realeasing anyway

I was hoping that it would not come to this... I did not want to start some big controversy, I just wanted clarification.

As I mentioned in the Forum Community Post, it is not that I am against our material being used, per se. I would be more than happy for anything I may produce, that VPN deem worthy, to appear in their publication, as long as permission is asked for and granted prior to this happening. Not only is it common courtesy, but it also gives you a heads-up of your work being published.

So I raised the question and asked if this was going to happen and both the NZFF admins and VPN have said that nothing will be used without express permission of the author/owner of the content.

That pretty much answers my questions and puts all my concerns to rest. So, as far as I am concerned, that is the end of it.

I was contacted via PM by Garry, and he has asked me permission to showcase the NZ Retro-AI project in the next issue of the magazine. His approach, and his attitude were entirely proffessional and friendly. I have given permission for this article to go ahead, and am furnishing him with text about the project, and also pics from the testing of the first 2 parts of the project. He will edit this text to suit and fit the mag, and choose the pics he wants, but he will run it all past me first before publication.
Personally i think this is a very good chance for all of us to showcase the beauty and wonders of flying in little 'ole NZ.
So much incredible beauty packed into such a compact area, ideal for "low and slow" VFR exploring of the wonders here.
And we do have so much to offer the FS community in the way of addons for FS, from the many wonderful freeware NZ airport scenery developers, to projects like Charl's GNZLAP, and even the Retro-AI project, ..... not every ones cup of tea, but certainly a different and unique sort of project,..... right up to the incredible payware work of people like Christian Stock with his 20m NZ Terrain Mesh and NZ Topo Scenery, and of course Robin Corn's Fabulous RealNZ airport sceneries !!
This is an opportunity for all of us to be proud of what we have accomplished here on NZFF and in the NZ FS community in general.
Why not let the world see how good we are, and what we have to offer ??
To use Craigs words,............... thats just "my 2 cents worth" on the matter, for what its worth...........................
