Well honestly I don't think we should be asking whats happening to Eagle Airways that question should be directed at Beech themselves if they have had 6 reports of gear trouble to the CAA then you should be looking bloody strongly at Beech.

But Beech have not been known to have problems with other 1900D's nothing that has warranted AD's & SB's as they were surprised when they were made aware of the wheels up landing at WB. Also bearing in mind EAG have had a history of gear problems throughout the years, with different aircraft....

Eagle have been known to be cost cutting.. Has anyone noticed an increasing number of Jetstreams being used on their flights?

And why does it say "The pilot of the Aircraft was praised for his efforts. All 17 passengers were unharmed" Whoopty Fricken doo. He landed a plane.

Well, with 50 Pilots resigning, and only recruiting 20 new ones each year, I can Understand why

And, Air New Zealand isnt giving much support either

Well Air New Zealand has increased their services markedly, hence more aircraft are needed, so they are using both Air National's JS31's and Vincents B1900's. Pilot numbers is not the problem, its the fleet size :)

Well not any muppet can land a plane with no wheels without skidding off the runway causing it to flip and kill all 17... Things get rather interesting in the cockpit when stuff goes wrong...I have first hand experience.

But the plane landed safely on its wheels

I meant instead of VA 1900's. -VAE was meant to get first choice of all the work from that gear up landing. For some reason, there wasn't any we were told about, but there are all these J31's flying around. I'm not allowed to say much, but don't expect to see AN around much longer though. ;)

I think the praise went to the pilot of the first aircraft. But even if it didn't, lay people can still praise the pilot for not crashing when there's an issue.

It's mainly Eagle. What about the hundreds of other 1900's flying around all over the world? They're cost-cutting with quite a few things. When they were looking at a new type after the Emb-110, they looked at Jetstreams but decided to go with 1900's as they were superior in almost every way except cost. So why now are they using AN Jetstreams when they have VA 1900's at their disposal?

It does start to sounds a bit wierd- Does Air New Zealand or Eagle Pay the cost for Air National Flights?

Yea as kag said earlier it is the fleet size that is the problem. Air NZ wont give em the money to get more 1900s (although I think they have reciently got a 2nd had one and are looking at another). Since the fall of origin eagle has itself taken up alot of the slack and being already streached out to the max have needed to get help. As well as that they've even opened up more sectors like an extra flight or 2 to westport (biggest waste of time ever, that was just to shut down air west coast and thats not gonna happen).

So why now are they using AN Jetstreams when they have VA 1900's at their disposal?

Well whats the difference ? to joe public there is none but to eagle there is. Why give away their buisness to VA and not make a cent when they can get AN to help them out for alot less $$ so they can still make coin aswell. It costs alot less to run jetstreams as apposed to 1900s. In this game its all about the $$

Oooh yes there is... Especially AN J31s. Whenever someone we know goes on a J31, they always complain about how noisy and cramped they are. Jetstreams also cruise slower, so they get to their destination late, then with that stupid single door, they have to wait until the passengers have disembarked to unload bags, then they can't put pax on until the bags are on. This makes them even later. Are you saying if you're on a 12pm flight, you won't notice if it leaves at 12:45? I don't think so.

Ok I asked dad on that one  :P

That's what the written contract says, but Eagle seem to have conveniently forgotten that and are using J31's which are less safe, less comfortable and less practical.

Humm, if I didn't know better, I'd say it was some Vincent Aviation PR guy posting there, rather than Master Vincent. :)

Yeah, think of this...How many Vincent 1900s? 2. Ok so two are obviously not sufficient to cope with demand...No one else has 1900s in NZ, so the only thing that can be done is the JS31's.

Dont quite see what the problem is?
