Not picking, but it seems a few members arent happy??

Why, their posts are being deleted without them knowing :o

Looking back in this topic ( Forum Community Discussion ) Charl run's a poll and it seems that most of us would "Get seriously annoyed and would require a PM to explain why" This has not been happening.

Wondering Why Not???????????

the topic is here ( http://z11.invisionfree.com/nzff/index. ... e=show&st= )

On second thought a four paragraph rant about my own negative experiances isn't really going to do anygood.

I have decided to delete a few posts over the last few days after recieveing annoyed complaints from various users.

The posts that were deleted had already been posted in other places- and links were placed back to the original posts- then the threads were locked- then deleted after a few more days giving the original poster enough time to see that link. This was done to keep the forums looking tidy.

May I ask why you are so concerned about this Craig? You seem to be complaining quite a bit about NZFF latly. We have told you before: if you don't like it here, go back to your own forum! :ph43r:

Still the poll ( members ) wanted a pm.

As stated above, a pm would be nice

<_< I'm not trying to have an argument with you again Craig.. just answering your questions.

PM's have been sent to various members- don't worry.

If the members who have had post's removed are actually concerned, then they have many ways to let me know. However, I don't remember deleted any of your posts so I am unsure why you posted this thread?

Ok, if you like it here then thats great!

The post this morning, was deleted and edited. I was NOT informed.

I think ALL the ADMIN AND MODS need to let members know, so ppl dont kick up a stick.

Not taking any side here.

Craig why is it you have done most of the complaining and have your own forum but still come on here to complain? If you post on your own forum who would delete it? Easy way out.

Next question is has this forum been hacked? Yesterday there was a email sitting in my inbox form Andrew Underwood with no content or subject. Email origin was Gmail this was reported back to the ISP as being suspicous.

Seems odd all the sudden hits on the forum then these weird emails going on, bit worried about the privacy. Next be getting porn spam from here I guess <_<

Whoops- I was going to send out the screenshot comp message individually but then decided to bulk-mail it- I must have sent a blank message to a whole group of members by accident.

The post this morning, was deleted and edited. I was NOT informed.

Just the title was edited to a more appopriate subject.. no need to explain that as it was for obvious reasons.

One thing I've noticed lately is the large number of signups from Gmail accounts. While there are a lot of valid reasons to use a non-ISP email address, there may come a time when only valid ISP addresses will be accepted. This is a common practice with forums worldwide, and although I don't like it -- people have the right to be protective of their email address -- it may be the best way to weed out those who are here for the wrong reasons. I include multiple anonymous signups as one of the wrong reasons.

Back to the original subject, I understand that the moderators each have their own ways of handling this, which is their right.
My own view is this:
Grossly inappropriate posts (spam/abuse) are deleted without acknowledgement. Everything else normally follows a warning process. This process may simply be a PM to the poster asking them to amend their post, and/or leave the subject alone. If they do so, all well and good, if not then they have been warned.
The 'I have my rights' exchanges tend to be the most difficult to deal with. However as soon as freedom of speech is mentioned, I normally cut the exchange short :) Your rights here are a subset of your rights in the wider world, and are limited for a number of reasons.
The end result I'm hoping for is that personal gripes, complaints and attacks are left out of the forum.

To sum up why i started this post, All i was after is a pm to the person saying that the post had been deleted/moved/edited, not much.
Just a simple, your post has been removed due to blah blah blah...

I've had my vent on the subject.

And if the moderator doesn't do this?

Well, a PM is probably appropriate for each post deleted. I would expect one if my posts had scissors taken to them.

Isn't it amazing how some people manage to turn something tiny into something unnecessarily big? Jeez its a post.. Get over it.. I swear some of you people have no life other than NZFF.. Instead of starting arguments, go wash your car.. or tidy your room or something.. :P
