Photo question

Hi all
I've got some flying pics on my computer that are 2560x1920 pixels in size. What's the biggest print I could get from a photo developers shop without losing photo quality? What if I had em at 1600x1200?

you could blow that up pretty big ,you could go to a signwriter and get it done on a dig printer any size you like .im mean the length of your room ,holding alot of depth from the hard copy ..dig prints are the best quality and will last for a very very long time as they use different solvent inks and frog juice to protect them .
go down to your local signwriter and get a quote ..

It is surprising how much you can blow up some images, but not everything works the same. It has more to do with the quality of the image, and the viewing distance, rather than the resolution.
The 'best' resolution for photo prints is from 240dpi to 300 dpi (dots per inch), which would allow you to blow your image up to 8 x 10 for a photo-comp type image. However if you wanted a poster, say A2 size (594x420mm), then you'd drop to about 100 dpi, which with a nice bright pic would make a great poster -- just a bit less impressive up close.
In my experience (15 years in a digital print shop) people are always happy with their giant prints, even if they end up printed at 15 dots per inch:)

I'd probably say a maximum of A4 sized. Depends on the quality of the photo/camera too.
