New cpu cooler

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

My stock intel pentium d cooler is fine. That is, until the CPU hits 50'c. The thing makes a big racket, and I can hear it well over my 4 case fans and 2 hard drives, aswell as the TV! So I hopped onto google, and had a look around and found this

It has good reviews everywhere, and also competes with the Zalman and TT fans. I think I might look into installing this, so i can remove 3 of my case fans and just use the one exhaust (1 80mm case fan+video card cooler takes air out of case+power supply with 2 fans).

Suggestions?

well the cooler arrived in the mail today, and i installed it in 5 minutes and its all working properly. I am very happy with the cooler, as it makes absolutely no noise, and manages to keep the cpu 10'c cooler, while the fan works at a mere 700rpm... whats more it was a breeze to install, and looks very very nice. Even I managed to install it without the disaster which happened last time i unhooked the cpu cooler

well i vigorously tested it, and found that after 4 hours of playing need for speed most wanted with fsx running in the background, the cpu was running at 59'c, with the cpu fan going at 2000rpm (i couldnt hear a thing! ), and this was while the CPU was overclocked to 3.3Ghz over the original 3Ghz. !

Next step would be a southbridge heatsink, as I carry on with my quest of computer silencing
