The FSInsider site is up and down like a yoyo, but it is possible to get in.
Developers -- don't forget to download the SDK SP1.
Now would be a good time to defrag your FSX drive. Also I did notice that I'd left File Indexing running on my new drive (where I've installed FSX) and it now works better with this turned off.
For those who have had trouble with FSX performance, please give it another try. I'm convinced you'll be pleased with the patch.

It's a patch for FSX, to help solve some of it's shortcomings.

PARTY! ^_^
If it wouldn't cost me $15 to download, I'd get it from Uni...
I've asked Gameplanet to mirror it too, hopefully that'll speed things up.

Go to gamerhell.com they normally have fast downloads. ICONZArena doesn't have it yet:(

Great! Thanks for the heads up. I've not needed to visit all these sites every day to check if it's ready, I've just had to come here for notification. I appreciate you telling us :D

Downloaded and installed in my two computers. Quick report as follows:

3.2ghz HT - Very little perceptable change!

2ghz dual core laptop with x1400 video card - major improvement and am able to move sliders to the right and max FPS at 24. It is still a liltlle sluggish - 12fps -at busy airports like godzone nzwn but once clear of the runway goes immediately to max!

Congrats, first post on the SP1 experience, sounds encouraging.

blast... upgrade time then B-)
what's the easiest way to benchmark before/after in FSX? i'm thinking save a flight and then load it and capture average framerate with fraps

Just installed and very impressed.
My Specs AMD64 3500 +, 2GB Ram, 256 6800 GT card.

Sliders set mostly to the right except for a few which are a notch down such as Terrain res set to 38m and textures to 2m. Traffic settings and others set lower

Did a circuit around default wellington and here are results:

end of runway - before 13 fps after 20 fps
climbout - before 16 fps after 25 fps
looking out side over city - before 11 fps after 21 fps
approach - before 13 fps after 21 fps

Net result - a big gain

Thought this release was also going to include a P51 Mustang - but no

FSX'ers grab this download. Took me 10 mins to download via broadband !!

Awesome, had you tweaked the config file for autogen etc when you first installed FSX?
The Mustang will come with the adrenaline expansion.

Well I just managed to do KJFK-KSYR with autogen, traffic (justflight traffic 2005), scenery e.c.t and it never got lower than 9fps (not bad for a take-off roll at KJFK)

Now all I need is the Wilco 737 patch :P

you'll miss out on a probable performance upgrade...

and you may have problems connecting into multiplayer if the host and/or others have SP1 installed, but thats a 'may' given its as yet untested.
