Well thanks Nik ( I won't quote because of the size  ) So basicly to get the radial heading if is greater than 180 - 180 and if it is less + 180 and that will give me my heading. Also if you are outbound on a radial just track direct to it ( i.e. track direct to the VOR )

Thank for your help

Just beaware if you are 'outbound' from the VOR you can't be tracking direct to the VOR station as such, rather you are tracking one of its 360 radials (and are outbound). If you are 'inbound' (Therefore tracking direct to the VOR station) on a radial your heading (approx) will be 180 degrees different to the radial. I think Ians simple explanation is some what better than my 3 chapter novel LOL :D

Outbound - In these two cases I'm using the Ohakea VOR/DME

"FPG, outbound Ohakea on the 030 radial, DME 25 at 5000"

So FPG's heading will be 030 approx

Inbound

"FPG, inbound Ohakea on the 030 radial, DME 25 at 5000"

So FPG's heading will be 210 approx

Hope this helps

Hi team.

I thought I'd better try get a familiarisation flight in before Friday to help get me up to speed with the P3. I decided to do the first leg but only got as far as Tory VOR/DME. As this relates specificly to the 'Friday Night Flight' I thought I'd post the shots in this thread rather than screenshots.

Here's a few shots with some mock up ATC (as according to the schedule for Friday) to help build the story.

First off, I sorted my flight in FSX according to the NOTAM, you can do this in multiplayer, either by clicking on the flight planner once inside the server(but before spawning) or by pressing the Alt key on the key board and finding the flight planner in the options.

Then I got my clearance.
Orion - "Woodbourne Tower, Albatross 43 with Delta, IFR clearance to Ohakea"
Tower - "Albatross 43, cleared IFR to Ohakea as filed, cleared to 7000, SPRING ONE departure, information Delta confrimed, squawk 6121"
Orion - "Cleared as filed to Ohakea, 7000, SPRING ONE departure, squawk 6121.Albatross 43"
Tower - "Albatross 43, your read back correct, Call when ready for start"
Orion - "Albatross 43"

A few minutes later after I had figured out what I was doing LOL.
Orion - "Woodbourne Tower, Albatross 43, 8 POB, ready for start up"
Tower - "Albatross 43, start approved, time 25"
Orion - "cleared for start up, time 25, Albatross 43"

Orion - "Woodbourne Tower, Albatross 43 ready for taxi"
Tower - "Albatross 43, taxi to, hold short runway 24"
Orion - "Hold short 24, Albatross 43"
Orion - "Tower, Albatross 43, holding short 24"
Tower - "43 back track, line up 24, report when ready"
Orion - "lining up 24, Albatross 43"
user posted image
'I thought he said runway 24  ' Yip....in FSX the runways at woodbourne ain't numbered correctly....ATC will refer to it as 24....no biggy'

Orion - "Woodbourne Tower, Albatross 43. Lined up on 24"
Tower - "43, surface winds 231 at 6, cleared for take off, report passing 4000"
Orion - "Cleared for takeoff, will call passing 4000, Albatross 43"

up, up and away!!!!

Flying the SPRING ONE departure. Some great performance from the Orion got me through 4000 pretty quick

Orion - "Woodbourne Tower, Albatross 43 passing 4000"
Tower - "Albatross 43, cancel SID, proceed on course, report Crossing Tory"
Orion - "Cancel SID, proceed on course, will call crossing Tory, Albatross 43"
user posted image

Yay! that helped get me on course quicker than if I'd had to complete the SID. I love the VC in this Orion

Ran out of time so couldn't get through to PPN and OH. Hopefully on Friday I'll have time.

Saddly we have lost Keagen this week....he's gonna be away on the road. Thankfuly Scott has put his hand up to do NZOH. Good on ya mate  . At this stage you guys can expect vectors around NZOH. ILS/DME approaches will be approved at NZOH (all other instrument approaches will be closed). SID's will also be issued but you may request visual departures if you'd prefer. Thanks again Scott - your a champion!

Hi Team.

It seems that interest is growing for 'Friday night flights'. For those of you new to our server have a good read through the guidelines here before coming along on Friday night. If you have any questions PM me and I'll do my best to answer them :)

This may be a stupid question, but is it possible to add a VC to another model? (i.e. The VC from that other Orion to the RNZAF Orion?)

Nik- Yep ive got a few ideas but it would be good to wait until all the islands are there (Motiti has a grass strip on it so it would be good to include that)...Whale should be finished soon

Yeah thought that might be a good way to go. Looking forward to seeing the next two.....the first two are very sexy!!!!!! (These island are a must have download guys, make sure you have them!!!!).

I have no idea if you can add a VC.....I'm the last person who'd know (no tech brain  ) But Ian might know a thing or two about this.

Glad you like it MAX. See you Friday  .

Just a quick word to all pilots. I think it'll be quite busy out of NZWB.......be patient. You'll be released one by one in due time. Make sure you have your flight plan sorted in the FS flight planner. Get your clearance sorted when ATC isn't busy....expect a delay in your start up clearance. BE PATIENT!!!! HAVE A PEN AND PAPER!!!! so that I don't have to repeat things many times to each pilot LOL. For those away early please only position report at the points that you are asked to by ATC....this will stop the radio being so busy.

Eg.
Tower - "Albatross 43, cancel SID, proceed on course, report Crossing Tory"
Orion - "Cancel SID, proceed on course, will call crossing Tory, Albatross 43"

There for, make your next report crossing Tory......not in ten seconds time LOL. This was a problem last week.....Listen hard to ATC. We often tell you when to make your next report.

Eg ".......Report outer marker"
"...........Report passing 5000"
"...........Report 25 DME Ohakea"
"...........Report at time 38"
"...........Report established on the.........."

This helps us greatly.....it gets us the report when we need it  This being said, there are mandatory reporting points aswell.

When making your report try keep em quick and simple. 'who, where, what' (sometimes the what isn't required) works well.

Who you are, where you are, and what you want to do

Eg "Ohakea Tower, King Air 83 with alpha. 35 DME to the south at 5000"

The receipt of Information alpha was also added here....and it helps to state who your hailing, Ohakea Tower in this case. Note that 'what' was not included in this report as the controller already knew this aircraft was inbound to land.

Here's another, this time for Wanganui traffic advisory "Wanganui Traffic, DFC rolls on runway 11, vacating to the south"

Yeah i though that may be the case but then i also had a thought that it may be possible to call a separate model for the interior to avoid having an overly complex model (half of which wouldnt be visible from the outside)

Cheers Scon
