To run FSX well I need...

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby A185F » Sun Apr 22, 2007 1:13 pm

Ok I have fsx on an old computer (2001) like 1.4ghz 512mb 128mb graphix anyway it runs ok at lower settings maybe a quater of full blast but at the end of the day, what do I need to mak it run at full blast ?? There are heaps of different ideas out there but to all those people on here who have it running well, what specs have ya got ??

Any help would be appreciated.

P.s, as always, i am in a budget so cheaper the better in terms of an upgrade :P

no such thing as a cheap upgrade that runs FSX on full blast...

I'm running a 3yr old P4 3.0GHz, 1GB, 6900GS (256MB) and it runs ok if you turn all the autogen off, run at minimum resolution and medium low settings
we're all hoping service pack 1 will lower the bar in terms of performance requirments, so it's a bit wait and see at the moment

I consider my system not really suitable for FSX:
Athlon XP2600
1GB RAM
Nvidia 5900XT 128MB
Basically it is unflyable over city areas, although I do like my graphic settings turned up. However I would expect some improvement with SP1. Whether it gives 'reasonable' performance is the big question.
My idea of minimum specs would be 3GHz processor, 2GB RAM and 512MB graphics memory.
Much more would be required for great graphics.

upping to 2GB of RAM made a big difference to my performance. Athlon 64 3500+, 2GB RAM and 256MB 6800GT card

One thing that you really need for good FSX flying is RAM, lots of it! 1GB okay, 2GB better (but expensive). A lot of people get good deals on computer stuff from pricespy
