Life Flight Open Day - Sunday 22nd April 10am-4pm

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby monsta1978 » Sat Apr 21, 2007 12:40 pm

Hey peeps...

Life Flight Trust is having its open day tomorrow, Sunday 22/4/07 from 10am - 4pm.

I went last year and they put on a pretty good show with the winch and fire tender demonstrations. I'll take the trusty camera along this time and get some shots.

So if you're in Wellington, come along and show your support. The Life Flight Air Rescue Centre is located at 17 George Bolt Street on the Western side of Wellington International Airport.

Here are some photos from the open day of the helicopter winch rescue demonstation (ok... well they actually used an under-belly sling this year, but I'm not one to complain about false advertising :P )

In all it was a good day. I went from just after midday until 2pm. Fantastic to see many people of all ages taking an interest in all the rescue equipment; and the dedicated pilots, crew and support staff that are there in case we need help one day. Makes you appreciate the enormous amount of effort and resource behind a operation such as the Life Flight Trust.

I'll upload some more over the coming days... so keep a look out.

Hey, you must have been standing about 20 feet from James and I, we were at the far right hand end for this display. Twas a good afternoon, however I forgot how tiny the inside of a Metroliner was. James and I will have some pics to share as well no doubt.

I also forgot how cramped those Metroliners are (especially for 6'5" tall person like myself).. and to think AirNZ Link operated them once. Better than lying down inside of this one I suppose.

I was taking my photos from directly to the left of the metroliner wing and then moved to the right when the BK117 landed.
