Ooooh! Is this an MAAM DC-3 repaint in the offing? or a new model altogether?

Just a suggestion. Could the freighter model be of ZK-BKE? This a unique DC-3 (in NZ at least) as the cargo door is located on the starboard side (it's a USAF DC-3, not a civilianized model).

If you read the thread fully you will see this is a rebuild of the default FSX model with new skins and mapping. 3 new models are being built, one similar to the current default, the one shown in the last set of pictures which is a 'viewmaster', you can see the windows are different, and the last will be a freighter with doors on the port side as per usual.

Bugga! Sometimes it's hard to know which version folks are talking about. Just took my cue from Trolly's original question. And I do seem to remember there was discussion of an FS9 repaint in the offing.

Yes originally there was, but I became so frustrated with the skin and what you could and could not do that I decided it was either going to be done properly or not at all. As you can see we hope we have achieved 'properly'.

With luck a FS9 version of the same final package will also be available.

Ah! Okay.

Now, if it was a repaint for the excellent MAAM-Sim DC3, then it would be available for both FS9 and X. B)

I'll stay with the excellent JEDEN DC3, a pure FSX beast with everything I could want.

The story just gets better, James completed the latest model in the series today (almost) simply stunning! The release will feature pretty much every NZ DC-3 operator. The man is awesome, who would have thought my level of annoyance at the default FSX DC-3 would lead to such an awesome set of models for FSX.

If you have any good shots of the Vincent livery it would help heaps, I only have 1 and its not the best. Isn't there a good side on drawing hanging up in the Vincent offices in wgtn?

Just brilliant!
Matter of interest, what's the difference between FSX and FS9 flavours?

Sorry for all the questions, but will there be a viewmaster model for FS9 with the stretched windows?

James is focusing purely on the FSX set to start, making these models backward compatible is actually a huge task given the modeling process is very different for FSX, part names have changed, textures are handled totally differently etc. Given the work involved don't be surprised if FS9 versions never appear.

We are discovering exactly how more advanced the new sim is. Bit of a shame given the intent was always to do 2 versions, 1 for 9 and 1 for X, so well see what happens. James can shed more light on this topic given hes the guy at the front line so to speak.

Ok heres the situation regarding the FS9 model from my point of view:

At the moment, I am concentrating on the FSX version due to the way FS9 and FSX handle MDL files and texture files. To create an FS9 version, this is what i would need to do:

1) Combine both the VC model and exterior model together into the one project (in FSX, they are seperate MDL files) and relink all parts

2) Retexture EVERY part in the model due to the nature of the more advanced techniques given to us in FSX.

3) Reanimate most keyframe animation.

4) Deal with an exporter that makes little sense in its error messages. (may not seem like a big deal, but the headaches that are associated with them are not worth my stress levels at the moment :) )

Unfortunatly as this present stage, the FS9 version will not be happening. Might do at a later date, but at the moment the Awesome 4Some pack is the priority. Several things that are causing me a lot of stress and late nights at the moment mean that if I want to keep from going on a mad rampage, I can't really afford to go backwards right now.

Sorry guys, maybe one day, but can't make any promises :whoops:
