Ahh, Aberdeen - the place of my birth.

Has changed a bit since I was last there. Many many years ago. Looking good.

haha no i wouldn't have got that - never been to scotland.

I've made several bits of scenery and crummy objects for Fsenhancer with Sketchup. you can learn the entire program in an hour or so and build some excellent stuff. More to the point you can export to gmax and get it in FS within minutes. If you want all the textures on one map however you will to do that in GMAX as sketchup currently doesn't support it.

Iv started reading Robins tutorils on the godzone site, I see they are based on the GMAX program, is this what I want to learn with? I want to make scenery that can work in both fs9 and fs10. Although if theres a choice I woudl prefer fs9 for now.

Will reading through the tutorials give me the skills needed to make a NZWG?

Jimmy, maybe this would be a good project for some tutorials.
Maybe you should team up with Ian, and the three of us could do a photoshoot at Wigram.
I know that Ian would LOVE to do a GMAX Wiggy:)

This sounds interesting, If you have no one else to do this tutorial thing with then Id be happy to, as I am interested in learning scenery modeling :D

anyway...ill go back to reading those lessons now..... :P

The problem with the tutorials is that they were originally written for FS2002. That's why I'd like to redo them -- to bring them more up to date.
I admit I didn't follow up my offer, simply because when I found out how old you were I decided that a couple of old guys (Ian and I) turning up on your doorstep for a field trip to Wigram would not really be too acceptable these days:)
However there's no reason why I couldn't turn it into a tutorial via the web. Wigram would be good because I could do some photos myself to get you started.
I'll give it some thought.

Hey Hinch- How do you get Sketchup models into Flightsim????
Ive only got the free (google) version but it is soooooooo fast to build buildings with.

I enhanced my original microstation model of the Whakatane tower in sketchup but then realised i couldnt get it out of there and into FS. Now ive started enhancing it in Gmax

Cheers

After Easter I'll coerce Ian into a visit to Wigram for a photoshoot. We should be able to have something started by the end of the month.
