Rotorua / Tauranga / Whakatane / Gisborne

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

My travels are nearly complete, arrived in Gisborne this afternoon after taking the Pacific Highway around the East coast from Whakatane. If you ever get the chance to travel around this area, I encourage you to consider travelling this longer, but far more beautiful part of the country.

I was actually inspired by Nik and Jons World tour when we flew from Gisborne to Whakatane around this coast. In FSX the scenery in this area was quite amazing, so when the opportunity came to drive around here I jumped at it. So, even though these are not aircraft photos (my bad) I thought I would keep these with the other sets. The next and final set feature two classics of NZ aviation.

This is White Island, visibility wasnt the greatest today :(

Getting closer to Gisborne, I came across this broken down old place, great atmosphere I thought..
