was glad I was in the tower and NOT flying yesterday at work

wind was 280mag 24G 49kts with xwind avg17 max 30kts and vis reducing to 2000m and less at times in heavy showers and thunderstorms.

we have access to several cameras around the airport including one that looks straight down the runway following the landings and we were lucky not to lose a couple yesterday! and not just little ones either. :o

I had a flight to NZCH Tuesday night (UTC+1) adn I had some horrible showers hanging over NZCH and very hard winds making the approach to RWY 02 very funny (lucky that ILS was working).

I also had some turbulence between Auckland and Wellington, and then the gusts in NZCH.

PS. I've posted some pictures in the screeshot forum.

I found the time to fly NZQN-WN last night in my 767, pity about the way ya climb out of the fog then have visual with the gnd for the whoel flight

Thanks to a incorrect metar I landed with a 15knt tail wind, was acrap flight any way due to only 10fps.. I still had 1013 set on the altimiter during approach, was 900ft lower than I thought I was!

Same! If there is a norwester howling through Christchurch, I'll often choose a flight to make sure I arrive for a visual 29 landing :D
