Reinstalling fsx for the 3rd time

A forum specifically to discuss the latest and greatest of all flight simulators

I want to try a 3rd reinstall of fsx to try and fix the pixelated water and other problems, I may even do a fresh xp install sometime soon doing a actul reformat instead of just a reinstall, maby..

After reading this thread on I am hesitant to reinstall it, but I can't use this install for the next few years. So shoudl I try reinstalling anyway? Would I just have to telephone ms to reactivate it or somehtign (oh what fun, a toll call).

So if your thinking about reinstalling maby it might not be good idea....

Thanks
James

you can activate as many times one the same computer but can only activate
on 2 different computers,

Q4: How many times can I activate the product?

A4: There is no limit to the number of times that you can activate the software product on the same computer. For example, you can remove and re-install or re-activate the product any number of times. An additional activation is provided so that you can remove and re-install the product on the same computer or on a different computer. See the End User Licensing Agreement (EULA) for more information. The EULA is located in the following folder:
Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X
To run Flight Simulator X on two or more computers, purchase additional copies of the product. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/games/pc/fligh ... aspx#buyit (http://www.microsoft.com/games/pc/fligh ... aspx#buyit)

So its like a windows xp reinstall, as long as its on the same hard drive it doesn't matter

To an extent, after doing a reinstall of windows and buying a geforce 7600GS graphics card I have had real improvments with things like clouds, were before I got 5fps in a cloud now get up to 16frames. the system still strugles with complex aircraft, especialy virtual cockpits, yet flying the defualt 172 is steady 20frames!

Other situations it can go down to below 6frames still, oh and voz, my sim doesn't like voz, well even defualt aussie airports aren't the best on frames. So basicly certain things have really improved :D

I think my most amazing fps improvment was with heaths nzch, were before my fps halfed when looking towards the airport, I now get a drop of about 1frame when looking towards it! But as of installing the godzone christchurch and the standalone nzch from nzscenery.com im getting that same old problem again..

(btw im talking about fs9 here, fsx is a far differant story haha, but I don't want to bore anyone :P )

off to do some ,probably unnessecery ,reinstalling!
James :plane:
