Hello FS2004 community supporters and military AI fans, it with great pleasure that I announce the beginning of the first MAIW (Military AI Works) promotion: MAIW FREE FOR ALL. The purpose of the is to help increase user interest in what has historically been the "red headed step child" of the FS9 AI community...Military AI.



During this week, we will release at least one release per day for an entire week (Feb. 26-March 3) showcasing some of the hard work and skill put together to produce top quality military AI packages for everyones simming pleasure at the unbeatable price of absolutely FREE. I'd personally like to thank everyone who already visits our site and we hope we can continue to spark your interest for the forseeable future

Hi there,

Yes indeed RNZAF Herks have been done and are in Beta Testing as we type. The RAAF C-130's released yesterday are the first of 13 parts of Asian Exotic Alberts which are heading your way over the next few weeks.

As well as RAAF and RNZAF, we have done complete fleets for;

Japan Self Defence Force
Bangladesh Air Force
Pakistan Air Force
Singapore Air Force
Republic of Korea Air Force
Indonesian Air Force
Malaysian Air Force
Sri Lankan Air Force
Philippines Air Force
Thai Air Force, and
Taiwan Air Force

Once these are released we'll be moving on to C-130's from another world region.

Thanks for the updates Stewart- I'm just wondering if the AFCAD's included are compatable with the Redbaron 20m mesh and topo?

Also, what % and airline/genral aviation selections do we need to make the Herc's appear? What airports do they visit? Is it just Ohakea, Woodbourne and Whenuapai, or some civillian ones as well?

Hmm I must have done something wrong as I can't find any Hercy birds at Ohakea or Woodbourne at any time of the day woith all AI at 100%, and my Woodbourne AFCAD is still the same.

Did I install it right? I simply ran the 'WOAI Installer.exe' from my desktop, selected the 'Royal_New_Zealand_Air_Force_C-130_Component.woai.zip' which I had also extracted to my desktop, choose FS9 and hit next a few times. Any thing I may have missed?

One of my pet hates is installer programmes, because if you let them do things their way, you can't see where to undo problems, should they occur.
I always let them install to a dummy folder, and then do the job manually from there.
I suspect there may be a folder snafu in this installer, I pointed it to a dummy folder and got this:



If you'd pointed to the main FS folder, you may have an installation that is one subfolder too deep.
Perhaps Stewart can comment.

Hi Guys,

Okay let's see if I can answer them in order

1) The afcad included with RNZAF is for NZWP and as such is aimed solely for default scenery. I know that this may not be to everyone's preference, but when Barry and I embarked on doing the Exotic Alberts we had to make a judgement call on what we would/would not include. As the Exotic Alberts series will eventually cover all C-130 operators (except USAF and RAF) in the world, we had to limit afcads to the following criteria; We would only do afcads for default scenery and we would only do afcads for the base "hubs" of the units we were including. To do all afcads was impractical - we reckoned the C-130 would be in the boneyard before we got them all done.

2) The % settings in the flight plans are set in such a way that if you put your "slider" to 80% or higher, all aircraft will be visible. Below 10% and none will show.

3) The New Zealand destinations used are;

NCRG,NFFN,NWWW,NZAA,NZCH,NZOH,NZRO,NZWB and NZWP

obviously if your favourite is not in that list, then you may wish to amend the plans to suit your own preference.

As regards the installer, I think you got that extra folder level, due to using the manual install. The auto install "should" put everything in the proper places, with the exception of the vcpmod callsigns which have to be installed using Editvoicepack, and it is for this reason that they are contained in the folder with the readme.

However please excuse me sounding a bit vague on the installer, as it's World of AI's and we just make use of it.

If you'll bear with me for about 15 minutes, I'll grab the package off Avsim and check it myself.

I don't believe it! I was actually right for once

You get the extra folder level (Royal New Zealand Air Force C-130 component) only when using the manual extract to a designated location other than FS9.

If you use the full auto-install all the folders are created in their correct locations.

Great job, nice to have a Whenapai AFCAD with parking spaces on it too BTW, I dont think the RNZAF have the camo paints on their C-130's anymore, they are all in a tactical grey colour as far as I know. (not complaining though, love the old livery!) You will also notice that #04 in the background of that screenie appears in my current avatar- it was performing at the Airforce openday airshow a few weekends back where I photographed it.

And Charl, thanks for the info about creating a dummy folder. Its the sensible thing to do, and I used to do it in the past, but havn't got any .exe installers in a long long while for FS and simply forgot this time around

Yeah we put that one in just for the variety aspect more than anything else. We reckoned if we got a majority of folks wanting the grey scheme then we can always publish a quick fix.

Stewart, thanks to you guys for including our neck of the woods in your (quite ambitious!) Fat Albert project.
I'm looking forward to your other exotics, which will open up new and erm, exotic places to go flying, along with your AI.
Concur with Andrew re the camo version, can't place it in the RNZAF inventory (here in company of Captain Sim version by David Sweetman)



However, Steve Jenks has already painted up the grey version, so no worries there

Thanks also for including the VoicePack option.
One question: how does VoicePack assign flight numbers?
Looking in the aircraft.cfg:
atc_airline=KIWI
atc_flight_number=
for each plane.
(I've only heard Kiwi 1 so far).

As regards the AFCAD for NZWP, my sympathies, you can only do so much, everybody has a different addon set.
In my case, with RealNZ, RBE, and Deane's NZWP, it's quite fun to fly TNG with the AI, as it flies an offset path, allowing you use of the correct runway!

The Flight Number is set in the flightplans section of the traffic bgl.

If you see this entry F,0005, then the sim knows that the flight number is active and the appropriate callsign (as set in the a/c cfg) will be used.

If the entry is R,0000 then the sim recognises this to mean no callsign and the registration will be used.

Actually truth to tell viz-a-viz the Cammo scheme.

When we created the RNZAF package it was the Autumn of 2006 and at that time, whilst we suspected that 0001 was in the grey scheme, we could not locate any images of it in other than the Cammo. So we went with what we could verify, and as I said earlier decided just to leave it as is.

We had a similar (although more extensive) problem with the RAAF. We completed all the work on a Thursday and on the Saturday the RAAF amalgamated all the C-130's into 1 unit! Again we decided to leave things as they were.

Thanks again for all the feedback guys, it's much appreciated, and to whet your appetites, I have already begun research and afcad work for the South American series of Exotic Alberts.
