There's a new version of the Piaggio P180 available for FS9 and FSX.
I took it for a flight across the top of the South Island to Wellington.
You have to get over the looks, but it is a sensational performer.
Jet performance at less than turbo cost.
The model update is pretty good, too, VC and cabin, the usual animations.
And my gear fetish is well catered for.
Not sure what the differences are between FS flavours.
Here it is then:

I wasn't going to download this aircraft, but after seeing it both here then when I found a review of this bird in this month's 'Australian Flyer' magazine I decided to give it a shot.

I installed it all and took it for a flight but I get heaps of error messages up when loading saying 'A330.GAU' 'A320.GAU' and 'dfd_romi.GAU' have faults. Did you guys get this too?

taht panel really is a mess init it. The VC reminds me of "premier aircraft desings" Q300.

How detailed are the panels systems?

They sound like the guages from eric's airbus panels, check you have the latest fssound.dll installed...

Hmmm, it pitches up way way over the top for me, and continues to stall.

The exterior model is pretty good, but the VC is crap, as is the panel.

Charl- how did you get all the seats and stuff inside your cabin? Mine is just hollow and empty...

Also, I have now realised that the aircraft reviewed in 'Australian Flyer' this month is a payware model from FSD.

Not sure we have the same aircraft - I got this one from AVSIM: mn_p180v2.zip
Panel looks OK on my sim, has clickable VC, cabin detail etc
James also thought the 2D panel looked bad - what d'you see wrong with it?

i think the p180 is a fantastic looking aircraft, very slick and the technology behind the shape is fantastic (something about no negative lift or something...)

great exterior model...crap interior. I'd be much happier without the VC. It could be good - but the panel bitmaps used are really low quality. They are however at a high resolution so if anyone could find a good picture it could be fixed quickly.

Another model from Marion Noriega? Excellent! I was well impressed by the Piaggio he brought out last year! I may well have a close look at this one as well.

It still looks real neat from the outside, but I think I'll be removing it from my hanger, not up to my standards ;)

Yes well the excitement passed quite quickly for me, too.
Maybe v3 will have a bells 'n whistles VC.
Still an intriguing aircraft...
