almost the same as what i did in 7th form. except replace calculus with geography- which meant a field trip to rotorua to study tourism (i.e. visit the luge :D )

p.s. algebra is sooooo cool

that may be true, but I have never EVER used the square root of -1 and all that other calculus crap outside of a classroom and/or an exam :P

Damn teachers telling you that you'll use maths every day of your life are telling LIES!

Seriously tho, one of my fav teachers was my old high school chem teacher... mostly because he used to do things like make touch powder[1] on april fools day and sprinkle it around the lab floor so when we walked into the room "SNAP", "CRACKLE", "POP"... and fill up large balloons with Hydrogen (and every better, Hydrogen+Oxygen) and hold them over bunsen burners :)

But also because one of his favourite sayings was "You'll need to memorise this for the exam, I dont know why, coz out in the 'Real World'™ you can just look it up in a book like everyone else"... LOL... how very very true... He knew Google was coming!

[1] If you happen to have a set of encyclopedia brittanica's in your school library... "go look it up" as Mr Prescott was so fond of saying... Hint: Ammonia + Iodine

we learnt all about cesium and water in science today

Athletics tomorow

We had ours yesterday. It was horrible. It was one of those stupid long boring hot days in the sun, that never end :( The teachers vs students relay is always a laugh though

I always like Athletics day, but then again we do get lots of shade if we need it, and we get the whole day away from the classroom. I'll probably end up entering a B event or something.

the problem with our athletics day, is that the school hires the town stadium/valedrome, and it has no trees or shade whatsoever. Well, there is the one tree, but all the weird scary smoking people seem to always be there

OMG! The balloon thing is awesome!!!

For anyone that hasn't seen this, get your Science teacher to do it. It's heaps fun to watch.

And make sure your never in class when the teacher decides to burn sulphate.

God my college is cheap! Today, we were watching a video about putting group 1 elements (sodium, pottasium, cesium etc) in water. The teacher warned us the video is a "little bit" old. Well, she was right about it being old. The guy on the video had the old semi afro hair, a creme coloured jersey, and flaired pants. Hmmmmmm....

Of course you use Maths each day, and English as well! Unless you get a job at a fast food restaurant where all the adding up is done for you and all you have to talk about is burgers. :P

A good command of Maths and English is essential for anyone wishing to pursue a career in aviation, or any professional job for that matter.

But then again I loved Maths and my wife's an English/History teacher so I may be biased....

nice work. Much better than what I got on athletics day. I got a sore shoulder from shotput, a buggered foot from triple jump, and a javelin stuck in the ground backwards

Not really. I skipped athletics pretty much every year, because I played netball my stupid coached decided she didn't want any of the team doing athletics incase we got hurt. So if I went I sat around doing nothing
