THE MUSTANGS

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

In line with our monthly screenshot theme of military machines...

I have several FS fixations, and the P-51D is one of them.
I've had the Shigeru model, and Roger Dial's with all the paint variations.
I bought the WOP version for its VC and brilliant flight model.
I bought the Alphasim model for its looks.
And now we have Warwick Carter's model.
Version 2 is very good, but what sets it apart is the photoreal paints.

And despite the WOP VC being the place to be, Warwick's is not too shabby.
Scratch around and press "Arm Tanks", then "drop" and see what I mean.
It's not often we get two paints to compare one on one:

2008 is going to be a great year for flightsimming (yes I said 2008, when the computers are up to it, and we have DX10!)

But congratulations to Warwick and company, for making'07 special too B)

I really like the Warwick Carter one. The others, especially the alphasim one, look just about cartooney, which I don't like.

On AVSIM today...
The Jumping Jack is a Javis repaint.
He did an equally good one called NookyBooky
Roger's P51 was I think a FS2k2 model which lasted extremely well but things don't stand still in the FS world - it has done its job.

Niiiice, just shows that the payware guys have to do something pretty spectacular to earn our $$'s these days, sadly for alphasim this isnt one of those days. well done Mr Carter

Not that I'm dissing either of the payware jobs - remember they too are a generation old, and were state of the art in their day.
It's just that I enjoy it when the art is advanced a tad, they will have to reply with something better, and I'm sure somewhere somebody is exploring the full depths of FSX models.
This is progress!

you won't like the VC then...

the model has MDL built 'smooth' gauges so no hit on frames and smooth movement in the vc. the old one was pretty ace, the new one really the only difference you can see is those lovely photo textures.

warwick has produced some great models. his tiger moth is a classic in my opinion and i also love his me-163 komet (also both with smooth gauges i think)

Just can't get enough of those Mustangs.
Playing with that brilliant Recorder Module gives multiple opportunities...

Matamata. See your thread about default start location.

Warwick Carter on AVSIM - look for the photorealistic repaints.
