Visiting aircraft at WLG

Just thought some of you guys would like to see some of the more interesting visitors we have had through WLG over the last 6 months.


Came in the dead of night... anybody want to hazard a guess at what it was doing here?


Flew in from Aust one day, was here for a couple of hours then vanished. Clearing customs here

Fokker F70 that brought the Prince of Orange out to NZ. This was spotted in Queenstown and Christchurch also. Not clear in the photo but the royal seal is above the door.


A reasonably regular visitor here.


Pop quiz, who can identify this beast? It was on a world trip from Seattle. She sounded sweet!

I believe the 2nd shot from the top is of a Gipps Airvan, there are a few ZK- ones down in Tekapo.

Also, the Chillian Goverment jets were in the Captial for the prime minister discussions with Helen. I think Jon posted photos of those in this forum too.

The Netherlands Fokker was also seen in Auckland.

All in all, a great collection their chopper nut! Thanks for sharing.

I reckon that 757 has somthing to do with our air force considering that the RNZAF only has 1 757

The 757 had something to do with the CIA I think. The Airvan was on a demo tour according to my info and the Beechcraft, well done natas, the pilot was saying that these conversions are all the rage in the states at the moment. Its got a Garrat turbine and full pressurisation, can cruise up to 22000 ft or something like that.

Doesnt look as if the FAA know about the turbo-prop conversion as they're still saying it has the IO-550

A Turbo Bonanza - that is something you don't see every day! - was it pressurised though as there is no pressurised Bonanza - although there is a pressurised Baron

Diplomatic mission with lots of men dressed in black with earpieces!! The Airvan has become quite popular, the whale watchers in Kaikoura have one

That would be a lot of work to convert a Baron to a single engined aircraft, could anybody really be arsed doing it I wonder!
