Automatic Update: IE7

A forum for everything else that does not fit into the other categories

I'm running Windows XP SP2, and just now a automatic update has downloaded itself, and a little yellow balloon popped up on the taskbar asking me whether I would like to intsall the auto update right now- I clicked next, then saw the update that had downloaded was Internet Explorer 7.

I seem to remember hearing that IE7 has a lot of bugs in it and mucks up FS9 somehow, can anyone confim that before I go ahead with installing it?

Also, are updates mandatory, is there a way I can choose not to install it? I think I'm fine with Mozilla and IE6 sitting as an inactive shortcut on my desktop :P

In one of the betas there was a file you had to delete, or FS9 wouldn't run, but that's long fixed. Tis perfectly okay now.

Yea, in one of the early beta versions you had to delete or rename "oleacc.dll" (or similar) from the FS root folder, otherwise FS would freeze if you opened the kneeboard or Help Topic place, but like the others have said, you should be sweet now. :)

Thanks for the info, I will install it now but only because the little yellow exclamation mark in my task bar is annoying me. I'll be sticking with Firefox thank you very much!

Andrew, i'm sure you already know this
if you go to windows update settings
check the box for:
"Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them
you may have the box checked for:
"Install updates automatically (recommended)"
that way you can choose what to download
