try out the system that you have for now,I'm keen to hear if your fps have improved,I will get those floppies down to you,and If you need help I'll just ring you and lead you through the process again,no probs. :) brand new floppy drives are cheap and easy to install so that would be something that I would be looking at in your case.

Erm excuse me but Partition Magic is Payware and if you send a copy of that to James you are commiting Piracy.

Thats true,so that beggars up that idea,Can't even send the rescue disks either because they are part of it. :o

oh well I may have to pay James a visit and take the discs with me and use them, now thats not piracy because they are not being installed on to his system permantly :P

Another point though,Powerquest,The makers of Partition Magic have gone,I don't think they would be interested in piracy now

Well I have no installed fs9, I get great perforamce in defualt aircraft at any defualt airport. up to 20fps.

Sadly thow if I use any complex aircraft fps will go as low as 5 still... I am hopeing when I upgrade to 1.5gbs RAM that shoudl improve, as I think the reason for low fps with complex aircraft is the sounds and system in the panels.

Also so loading the defualt 172 at Ians NZWN scenery will make fps well below 10 still, but I am certain there is an improvment in defualt situations, Im happy to just use basic aircraft untill I get more RAM :P

Thanks again
James

 WEll James It wasn't a waste of time doing the reinstall.you learnt something along the way and you have done your first install of the operating system. That's a plus for you.I do have a question for you though, did you have anything else running when you were flying fs,what icons were in the bottom right hand corner other than the time.If any then I would suggest that you disable them before starting FS.Also did you install the 9.1 update for FS.All I can suggest at this point in time is to have all your settings to the left and start from there.do one at a time and do a flight and see what the fps is.don't worry abt how the scenery looks just the frames.use the same plane and same location. :(

yeah it wasn't a waste of time at all! its just the complex aircraft that are still giving me bother, the basic stuff is has certainly improved :D

okay will do, the only icons in the ico tray are a little icon of my modem (I will disable that soon, jsut gota find were to) the little windows sound volume adjusment icon, the nvidia and a "network conections" icon with a cross threw it. So nothing to resource hungry.

James go to your device manager and disable that network connection if you are not using it.It is using resources, also if you go to your bios you can disable the LAN from there but only if you are not using the network.you will also find that with it disabled your computer will boot up slightly quicker
