Best Processor For Fsx

HI there what would you guys recommend as the best processor for FSX?

Umm...the most powerful one you can afford?

A fast quad core system would be nice. Have FSX on one core, and split the other apps onto the other 3 cores.

it would be interesting to see some processor benchmarks for FSX. faster clock speed I imagine is best, rather than number of cores.

Thanks I was looking at my options for a new computer and i think i might go for a 2 core duo with 2.8ghz and the latest graphics card/ is this any good?

What Zoltuger says is good, and the latest graphics card can't be all bad, if you have two PCIe slots, I'd go for a Nvdivia 8800.

Seeing as your getting a core 2 duo, and an 8800, your probably full of money, so why not get them, then overclock them? That would make some machine

overclocking is not recomended on any part of your machine ,its a matter of great decision and a well thought out one ,with that setup you wouldnt need to overclock it ,


duo+4gig of ram+any great card should be a good buy for fsx,,,


buy parts like a mother board for the future (foxcon have good ratings at the moment )or any other high end board ,make sure its upgradable for you needs in the future and within your budget

i have a 3.0ghz ht cpu and a 7600gt and works just fine with fsx and is now cheap as dirt

its going to cost me $1160 and i can sell my current computer for around $300 and sell some old xbox 360 games and it makes the computer relitively affordable

Thats pretty good for starters. In the end you might want to add more RAM, and a slightly more powerful graphics card, but that current setup will run FS9 great (I have a very similar one ).

i have a intel 3.0ghz {ht}
1gig ram ddr2
sata2 harddrives
asus p5ld2 motherboard
geforce 7600gt g/card
it plays fsx just fine with all settings mostly max with addon aircraft and other scenery addons such as realnz
as alex says more ram wouldnt go a miss but i hear with fsx its more about the g/card memory&clock speeds etc than cpu and ram resourses

If you have the dollars I would go for ddr2 800 memory and 8800 graphics card,more memory=better performance

This is all very interesting as I'm also looking to upgrade (have been given the green light form the Mrs).

Natas, what sort of FPS do you get with your system? And H290master, would you be able to tell me where your getting that system from? That seems a very good price!

For me, its a bit confusing as it seems people are getting mixed results with FSX on their system. Eg some pentium 3 owners say it wont work while other get an acceptable frame rate with medium settings on the sliders.

Dell has offered me a better system for a way better price and it has windows vista the price is $1050 once i recieve their written quote i will post it
