Wings Over Wairarapa

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Thought I'd share these too - from the scrapbook I made for the trip.

Choppernut's right - the flying was a bit random at times.
I thought the de Havilland display was the best of all, massed display, and always something happenng. Jon caught the spirit nicely in his flypast shot.
In the video I will one day edit, the Dragon taxi's into frame showing its port engine first. You'd swear it's a Moth approaching!
Then you see the rest of the plane, and it really is just 2 Moths sewn together. ;)
That Polikarpov is simply amazing though, and I was glad to see it pop up from time to time doing that flying brick thing.
It does make the most astonishing noise, and it must be a real handful to fly

Thought I'd try a little fast burst photography - you can't do too much because it chews up card storage like crazy.
I was quite pleased with this Air Tractor, though I actually didn't see it live, only the result back home.

And the cover page: some of the Top 10 favourite aircraft of all time, especially the old bent-wing thing.

Oh and the Dak does look splendid.
To be honest, I didn't notice the Kiwi was wrong, thought it was a variation appropriate to the era.

Postscript: Bob Leask was sitting next to me at the airshow as we sipped our champagne and dipped our caviar B)
Bob's name will be familiar to those who trawl airliner.net and other aviation sites.
He has some interesting photography on http://bobleask.fotopic.net/c795788.html
He also runs the Brandon St Cafe in Welly, drop in and have a chat if you pass by.
