Serios Performace Issues With Voz

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Jimmy » Thu Jan 25, 2007 10:09 pm

I just installed voz 1.21 and voz ai. I loaded up yssy and was very disapointed with the perfroamce, there at the end of the rwy I had a stutery 5fps in the defualt 172.

This is with clear skies and no autogen, I also turned the ai off, no improvments. I discoverd there is an exsesive amount of 3objects, a stack of boxes beside the rwy :s

I am aware there is some way to delete the bgls for these objects, all I really need is the gates and terminal, oh and of course the runway :P

Thanks
James

I installed all the VOZ stuff myself and didnt have any issues like stuttering, but I did have issues in not being able to remove their basic airports in favour of more detailed addons

if you head over to the Voz forum there's a list of Bgl's for YSSY that you can delete to improve your FPS
its in one of their sticky's if i remember...........

From the 1.3 readme:
Airport Scenery Performance "Tuning"Â￾
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

From VOZ 1.21 onwards, we've introduced a simple method of file names to allow you to "tune"Â￾ the level of detail present in the new airports. Basically, apart from the core terminal buildings, we've created separate scenery .bgl files for areas such as:
• Cars
• Trees
• Lights
• Fences
• Airside objects
• Landside objects
• Static aircraft

As an example, here are the filenames contained in the VOZ EZ-Library folder for
YMHB Hobart:
ez-scenery-YMHB-AF-SC.bgl
ez-scenery-YMHB-Airside-SC.bgl
ez-scenery-YMHB-Cars-SC.bgl
ez-scenery-YMHB-Fences-SC.bgl
ez-scenery-YMHB-Landside-SC.bgl
ez-scenery-YMHB-lght-SC.bgl
ez-scenery-YMHB-Statics-SC.bgl
ez-scenery-YMHB-Trees-SC.bgl
ez-scenery-YMHB-TW-SC.bgl
ymhbbldg.bgl
ymhbbldg.txt
YMHBbldg.xml

As you can see, you can easily rename, delete or move components such as cars, trees, fences, airside objects etc, until your PC provides you with an acceptable framerate for YMHB. The only file you'd need to leave there for the core terminal buildings would be the ymhbbldg.* library file.

We've done this so that you ultimately have control over what is displayed, without
resorting to massive amounts of option screens in a new switcher, something which
would require extensive coding and file management, and introduce more bugs that it would solve.

thanks andrew, I only have 1.21 and don't really want to ahve to download anothor 50mb for 1.3! The V1.21 scenery folder doesn't have any files named like that.

I suppose I might as well download it then, Im still prety suprised I can't even run voz on my system, with my new graphics card.. Maby itll handle all the objects better once I have more RAM, anyway ill grab 1.3 and delete the bgls :D

Thanks

Hey Trolly. I have been all over there forums and found one to remove the BNE scenery an followed it. Removed literally EVERYTHING relating to BNE and still the airport and scenery showed up.

Have emailed a few people at VOZ re: this matter so will post a response here for Jimmy too If I ever hear back from them (Tho since it's about removing stuff from their setup I doubt that will be rapid in coming lol)
