Thought it might be a good idea to start broader thread, So I'll kick it of with a couple of ideas I'm looking at.

Current state of my Devcat-Lynx... err the decking seems to be suffering from a dimention crisis , things get a bit squashed the higher up you go  .. to be looked at.

A 5 minite rush job looking at the layout of the Arahanga it looks like a simple enough ship, ahoudn't be to much of a problem.

Err don't think this really need any intro...... another design study this time of the Wahine, this is a very destinctive ship, and it would be nice to capture it correctly

any thoughts, or other ships that anyone can think of that fit the bill or anyone else is working on ?

yeah... some Maersk ships in and out of Auckland would be cool... mainly coz I work for them ;)

So if you need some pics/scheduling info/graphics, let me know, I should be able to dig something up :)

cheers,

Subritzky Line run car ferrys from Half Moon Bay (east auckland) to Waiheke Island every hour, so it would be nice to see some of their ships recreated.

I can easly get photos as the HMB marina is about 5 minutes from my house.

You know there is a known problem with FS2002/FS9 and AI shipping that causes CTDs.

I had this terrible problem with a Cooks Straight AI package from NZ Scenery.com causing a CTD every time I flew between the North or South Islands. Thanks to a bit of elimination with a few other simmers we concluded that AI shipping was the cause.

We then read a article of which I can not remember where it is explaing why it was a issue and what work arounds against conventional thinking could fix it.

Just a thought -- FSX has the ability to set routes and schedules for AI boats, as easily (apparently) as AI aircraft. It may be more effective to do a FSX-only shipping package.

I'am just going to build some low poly tubs what people decide to do with them is their problem :P

Trolly - I can't for the life of me fined a pic of your ferry most site just talk about times, if ya got any pics .... ;)

HardCorePawn - I intended to make a local container ship but I had my eye on the P&O Albatross class, but if you can get some refs for some local Maersk ships then all the better.

I had a quick look on the net and there is a pile of them some have been renamed , let me know what boats call in NZ the most or what you would like to see and we can take it from there.

toprob - I see the future.... its shipping :D

Good luck finding the P&O vessels.... we (Maersk) bought them all :) P&O Nedlloyd no longer exist.

We have a bunch of Maersk vessels (>20-30) that call a variety of ports (Auckland, Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, New Plymouth, Nelson, Timaru, Lyttleton, Port Chalmers).

I can get you fairly detailed sailing schedules if you want... luckily we tend to operate on a "fixed day, weekly" schedule which means for any given service at any given port, the vessel is scheduled to arrive on the same day at the same time. So that should make the scheduling fairly easy

and I should be able to find some pics. I am in Hong Kong on holiday at the moment, so will have a look when I get back to work next week.

Reading back to some old threads and stumbled on this one. Any updates on the shipping situation?

And throw a suggestion in there and add to the already great Real NZ sceneries, Fullers Auckland Ferries would be great hehe

I'm excited by the potential this project offers, I particularly like the idea of the Wahine, a classic and quite distinctively beautifull ship in its time. I have always had a fascination with her, having memories of the day she went down even though I was only 2, seeing a ship her size on her side in the harbour isnt something you forget.

Am happy to help out with photos etc of the various ships such as bluebridge and the interisland ferries etc if you need them, there is also a large model of the waihine in the maritime museum here that I could photograph that may help.

Here you go, not the greatest as I wasn't intending sharing them etc, but gives you an idea of the level of detail..
