This is a repost of a thread on the KiwiSim forum of a tale of a 767 that ran out of fuel at 41,000 feet and successfuly landed, at the Gimli Racetrack.

Fairy tale stuff...think about all those What If's.
What was the one that glided to to Las Palmas?

i think i saw the movie- they simplified it so that the people refuelling it got confused between litres and gallons, thus not putting enough in

I've seen both the movie and the documentary its not a bad movie both pilots did an incredible job bringing that aircraft in. BTW when they lost power was probably a good indication to the passengers that something had gone horribly wrong.
