Hi guys. I did the IVAO NZ VFR leg 2 this evening. My route was to go Southwest to Ranfurly, then east through the Kawerau Gorge to Cromwell, then Queenstown, then through Lake Wakatipu to Glenorchy.

I started out great, though I had a cloud ceiling of around 3000ft Scattered, so I couldn't go very high. I started out at 2500ft.

Passing through my first real elevated terrain, a small mountain pass called Dinsey's pass between the Kakanui Mountains and the Hawkdun Range, I ran into some bad weather:

The ceiling was a mere 3000 or so feet, and I was going to struggle through at around 2600. This doesn't leave me much terrain clearance!

Anyway, I carried on, and things got real hectic. I had only a few hundred feet below me and not much beside me either.

I ended up scraping through just under the cloud. Here I am coming out the other side, wiping the sweat off my forehead!

I now had a flat plain in front of me, with nowhere to really use to pinpoint my location. I checked my atlas and I found myself roughly on the right course overhead the town of ranfurly and then into the Kawerau Gorge.

I entered the Kawerau Gorge okay and flew to Cromwell, then Queenstown. The FSX scenery looks great round these parts.

I passed overhead NZQN at 4500ft, and cruised West along Lake Wakatipu. I would be joining right downwind for runway 14 at Glenorchy.

I passed over the Glenorchy town as I settled onto finals:

I touched down, and brought the Baron over to the right.
