Photoshop troubles

i have have used photoshop a lot and have never had any troubles (even on my old 1ghz 256mb ram pc)

Now when im useing photoshop perforamce is REALLY bad, the mouse moves across the screen in stutters :( therefore making precise movements very hard and frustrating!

And I also notice when I have photoshop open switching between any windows or minimzing then (firefox, explorer etc..) will cause a extremly noticable crakly hiss comeing out of my pc case for about 1 second

This is really strange cos photoshop worked so well on my old pc and used to work fine on here, I just cant use it like this, the mouse will stutter and jump quite some distance before comeing controllable again.

Thanks
James

[EDIT] okay update on that: the hiss is now sounding when ever I even move the cursor in photoshop, and will stay on constantly when I am holding it down doing something  I can't work like this lol its crazy the noise is quite disturbing

photoshop is hard on graphic cards and cpu,s now this seems to me "opinion" that your card is more more on the way out or is not running properly
this seems to be your problem alot with frame rates etc .... it has to be the card james"opinion???

James, remind me again do you have AGP or PCI? I have a Radeon 512mb graphics card here I pulled out when I got the GTO, if your machine can take it its yours dude, might help with your problems.

I was on my Dad's PC and also noticed this when minimizing Firefox, like a sharp fast breath- odd! I have never heard it before..

Well its still happening een with no graphics card installed.

It was alright fora while with no gcard but today I was scrolling down a pdf file and everytime I scrolled I heard a very noticeable hiss, imagaine the noise of someone brushing two bare wires (live) together.

I also noticed it takes 100% cpu to scroll down in adobe reader(I have v7) and I also am having conecrns about adobe reader how when I open it or switch back to from anothor window itll ever so slowly load the page bit by bit.

is that normal with adobe reader?

Thanks
James

Adobe seems to be very CPU/Ram etc heavy, I have troubles at times as well until things have loaded properly, or I have charts etc running while I'm flying...
