Fs crashes

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Hi guys

I have been having alot of fs crashes lately and I just can't figure out whats causing it.
I get the error box about fs needs to close and wants to send a error report.

The problem seems to be to do with my 763 panel, if I am loading a flight that was saved in 2d panel view I will get that error box (it comes up while the loading bar is just stuck on 0 when its loading the panel I suppose). The other time Is geting the error during a flight (the erro rreport one,btw this one has a tick box to restart fs If I wish, I am aware sometimes it dosen't have that), It happend during a climb out the other day were I switch from spot to 2d panel view ad there were odd black flashes and all sound went, so I switched back to spot and then back to panel and it just came up with a black screen, I could still see the fs menu bar.

The other time it happend was last nigh I left it to fly to YBCS during cruise and when I came back there was just a black screen and that error box. the odd black screen I first noticed happening when I installed a ship called freedom of the seas, but that doesn't give me the error message the 763 does.

The "error" report says somehtign about a .gua file, so I removed that guage and it then said the error report was about anothor guage that that panel uses. So I removed the entire guages folder and there were no errors...

So I am guessing its a guage problem, but why has it started!?!? I have installed no guages laltely and these crashes have never happened with this panel, and something must be wrong for it to do it twice in two days.. I will be very mad if it crashes during my cruise to signapore!

so any ideas what could be cuasing the guas to play up like this?

I am useing lonny paynes 757 panel with the fs9 fix and the update for it to be used with a 763 plus all the other updates for it, I have never had such trouble with this panel in the past.

Thanks a heap!
James

Maybe try removing or renaming the gauge that is causing the problem and see what happens.

Topic moved to Technical Issues. ;)

not sure if this well help ,but it sounds like a graphic card issue,"what is the panel bmp pro,32 bit ? 24bit? the panel could be saved at high res 32bit or something and your graphic card could be having a real hard time loading the panel you could also check that out ? i think you can put it in image tool"the map " and save out in a different format ?? just a thought

yeah I did that:

he "error" report says somehtign about a .gua file, so I removed that guage and it then said the error report was about anothor guage that that panel uses. So I removed the entire guages folder and there were no errors...

hey Jimmy not being mean or anything but isnt this like the fourth Graffics related problem you have posted, maybe you should seriously look at your hardware?

I would try just removing individual gauges, so you can find the problem, rather than blasting away all your errors but having nothing to go on... ;)

Ahh man, my FS just crashed for the first time ever! :(

I was enroute QN-WN, and was on descending down from 7000 when I lowered my flaps by one notch and suddenly the sim froze, then quit to the desktop after about 20 seconds with the 'send error report' box opened up...?

I was in the BSMP Saab 2000, and I had raised and lowered the flaps fine on departure from QN... could it be something to do with my new sound card??

perhaps it could be with your sound card. However, since you were saying the first time ever, I wouldnt worry ;)

Yea, don't worry about it until it becomes a regular occurance.
I had to try three times to get into London City (EGLC) on one of my flights around Europe, and even then it froze after I shut my engines down. :P

So yea, I wouldn't worry too much about it...

Meh, ok, but I am still annoyed after 40 minutes of flying and getting excited about a blustery landing in Welly for nothing :(

sorry to hear that buddy, try another flight in our plane just raising and lowering the flaps in the air. Have you flown the SAAB 2k before? I hope it aint our plane upsetting your system.

hmm yeah I was seriosly thinking about posting this or not but after determining it must be a problem with the sim itself not gfx I posted ;) And yeah I am going to get a new vid card soon as I can.

I am just woudnering does anyone know how a guage that has always worked perfectly become corupted or is there someother part of the sim that could have been changed and therefore effects the guages.

I have spent quite a long time trying to sort this but is beyond me now.

Thanks

from my knowledge of guage development I spose it can happen yes but files dont jus corupt themselves so you may need to look into either a new vid card or mother board :(

It's not the Saab, I have flown it before fine. I think it was just my CPU clogging up or something, I'm gonna defrag my PC and try the flight again 2morrow ;)
