Well I have made the first step. Tuesday at 10.30am, weather permitting, I'll be undertaking the first of three flying lessons scheduled over the week.

I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight lol....

Good on ya Matt Im coming to NZTG about 2 weeks after new years (got new years and a 21st the weekend after) lol we both have to have time to recover and all hahaha but we (me and my work mate from westpac) are going to see his mate from aerius helis and a bit of fishing ya never know might see ya at the airport like your flying our fishing is weather permitting as well.

Will send you a PM when I know when we are coming and we may be able to meet you at the airport some where.

I'm sure you'll do well. After simming for so long, my experience in the cockpit certainly fits the saying "like a fish to water"
It'll be second nature to you.

Flying in the real word beats the sim anyday mate- once you are fully qualified you can fly me around everywhere

Well the weather conspired against me, low cloud today

I have rescheduled for Thursday 3.30, unless tommorrow turns out ok and we'll go up then.

Squirrell: I'd really like to catch up with you mate. I am on leave again from 15 Jan for 2 weeks so that could work in really well

My brother in law is getting a helicopter ride for his birthday, and there is a rumour that there's space for one more ... so I'm waving my hand around frantically!

Good on you matt. Try and fly at least once a week, it gets annoying when you can only fly every fortnight or so <_<

I'm doing it through Euroflight. I visited and talked to key staff at both Euroflight (Tauranga Aero) and Bay Flight and as this process will be somewhat casual over the next year or two their system suits me.

I felt 'at home' when talking to the guys at Euroflight and that played a big part in the decision

BayFlight are more into the intense training schedules, they have more planes (incl ZK-MAT, I am so used to saying Mike Alpha Foxtrot on Vatsim it would come naturally lol) and would be ideal if I wanted to drop everything and concentrate only on flying, but it seemed to me that they cater for the younger student, which is fine, but not really what I was looking for.

Fingers crossed for tommorrow... I'm booked in Echo Foxtrot Charlie - Cessna 150
