the seattle area was hit by a high wind storm causing over 1,000,000 homes and businesses to loose power Thursday night 14th December (Friday 15th Afternoon NZ). 100,000s are still without power last night!

As Microsoft is located in the seattle area, with the Jeppesson website, it is likely that the weather server got hit and hasn't yet been brought back on line.

Satellites that collect the weather download to Earth and it gets sent to a central point for distribution to the rest of the planet! Since the Jeppeson server is none essential its not priority to repair.

Well that's a relief.
I also could not get RWW but I thought it was because everyone was out of school and the internet had finally, terminally, sagged in NZ!

Yes this happens rather alot, it was down for a week once. I got the message the other day too ;)

I do think they should have a differant message instead of "check your internet conection".....

They are not sending you that message :P Your PC is programed internally to give you that message.

Its funny that people expect a server/website to put up a message saying "Hey we are offline :D " If they could they would not be offline :P

I use AcriveSky. It's payware, but waaay more detailed and sophisticated than MS weather, and their server has not gone down.

Fly on a network? :P

Or I suppose you could get a METAR from somewhere and enter the basics into the user-defined weather thingy. :)
