Its probably for copy protection, so you can't lend the discs to all your friends and they use it, its sort of to try and make sure everyone you know has to buy a copy. :P
Available on the internet are No-CD patches, although they are unofficial.

Welcome Pato!

Thankfully fsx doesn't need a disk in the drive to start, so we don't have to go hunting the internet to find a patched .exe :D

I'll have a look for one on the internet sometime today. ;)

Hi Pato, welcome to the forum!!

As far as I know the no-cd patch for FS9 is not frowned on and it's readily available via Google. I'll leave it up to you to look for it.

You may also like to updated FS to vers 9.1, which if you don't have you can get from here

Although this may appear rather hypocritical given my above post, I'd just like to draw attention to the following quote from the forum Terms of Use;

Just keep this in mind when posting thanks. :)

Thanks for the prompt reposes.
Alex I didn't know the No-CD patches were available on the Internet. I would have thought Microsoft would frown upon them.
Jimmy, I was going to get FSX but my PC is not good enough apparently.
ZK-MAT, Thanks. I have Ver. 9.1 and having a lot of fun with it.

Cleansed version:
I'm fussy about copyright, and don't like cracks and no-CD patches.
But I have heard people say that after they scratched their FS9 CD for the umpteenth time they installed the no-CD crack. :whoops: MS would definitely not approve.
It's good to hear FSX doesn't need a disk in the drive - do you do online registration or what?

I agree and the only reason I asked was that I was also concerned about the continual use of disk 4.

Fixed EXEs/cracks can be used for evil. While I'm sure nobody on this forum has pirated FS9, it's against forum rules to discuss breaching copyright.

As for FSX, it uses online activiation similar to Windows XP and Office- which is a brilliant idea, it saves having to reload the disk all the time.
