Hey guys - what do you think of the Captain Sim C-130? The Herky does look menacing in that scheme. I am sorely tempted with this one. I am a GA/warbird flyer and have no big iron add ons as I prefer to fly a/c that can be flown by one pilot in R/L but i am tempted to break my rule with this one, particlualry since you cn do some realistic low level flying. Do you find it super complicated?
Does the standard version fire off flares?

Cheers

Hi Paul

I use to be a crew chief on RAF C-130's. Everything works just as I remember it. You can fly this as easily as a GA or as realistic as a C-130 pilot. The whole CS package is a great piece of work and the 3 years of development show in its detail. The VC is a master piece.

Hope this helps

Dax

PS I just uploaded the above repaint to www.avsim.com

Just to endorse the comments, it really is a very convincing model, and with the attention Dax has paid it, very well represented in various Kiwi flavours.
If I have a criticism, it is that you can get so involved with it, you don't have time for anything else!

Thanks guys for the comments - but Captain Sim C-130 may have to wait as unfortunatley I have found out that one of our cars needs about millon dollars spent on it - well the price of a reasonble PC anyway. Hopefully it is still on sale in months or so time and will get it then. Ian I note your comments on Adrians model in the other related thread

Cheers

Yep the winglets are an option. You change it via the ACE utility that is used with the model. It just applies the winglets to all models so if you want individual ones you have to go into the aircraft.cfg file and change them manually.

Looking at various RNZAF repaints and photos.
My sim's rendition of Dax's paint looks too...SILVER.
The C130 is particularly difficult to photograph, becuase of its dark grey colour, it has no highlights. (as it should - it's meant to be hard to spot)

To me, Hamish's paint (bottom) looks closer to the mark.
You guys who know about these things, any comments?

In the ACE you can choose between Matte and Semi-gloss.

charl that c130 there that i have repainted is my very first repaint i did as you can see it is nothing like what my repaints are like now i was thinking about repainting a c130 and useing a different model c130 cause mike stones one is very basic and simsheds one does not work in fsx but i was going to use photos to do the repaint
and yeah the grey is very hard to get on the herc cause it is a very dark grey much darker when you compare it sitting next to the c17's grey sitting next to each other at nzch but when the c130 is flying along and it is in the sun light its grey is close to the grey on the orions if someone could help me find a good fs freeware model of a c130 i would love to give it another go
