With the large icebergs just off the coast of Dunedin, Mainland Air based at Dunedin Intl Airport and Helicopters Otago, based at Taieri Aerodrome, are both operating scenic flights to view the 'bergs. Interest in these flights has been enormous with charter flights over the past 2 days sold out.
The Icebergs are about 60km off the otago coast with mainland operating Piper Chieftain and Seneca a/c and Heli otago the BK117 and Bell Jetranger.

Yes, I saw that on TV3 news the other night. The reporter was flown in a helicopter to the berg, and he actually landed on it and jumped out and walked around!

I'm flight training at Mainland Air, and they started doing scenic flights to see these bergs yesterday morning at 8am & never stopped until 6pm last night. They carried 105 people between a 5 seat Seneca & 10 seat Cheiftan.

Today they have carried 170 people up to 3pm. They told me if there had been a spare seat then they would have gladly chucked me on for free!

PLZ SOMEONE CANCEL!!!!!!

why not just buy the iceberg?

You gotta love those guys who make the funny auctions on trademe! I remember the last one they had was the broken SKY TV satellite... some very funny questions and answers there. This one also has it's fair share, defiantly worth a read
