How to add VC's

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Just wondering but how do you add virtual cockpits to an aircraft model?
If you look into just say the JCA exterior model you see a modeled cockpit from the outside but when you go inside there's only the wingviews. How do you create a VC?
Also does anyone know how to add wingviews?

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

as far as i know you cant add ,the model file would of had to be made with a vc and wing views etc... unless you have the model sorce file you can not mod it ...
have the model sorce file and you can add or change anything but designers dont put these out with there aircraft ,sometimes they realease them but not often

You can't just add a VC like you can a 2d panel. It is part of the aircraft model, unlike a 2d panel.

You add another model level that FS recognises as the VC, and build it the same way you would the aircraft, with all the bits 'n' pieces depending on how detailed you want it, and animated (flap lever, gear lever etc).

yes two models under the dummy part names 'interior' and 'exterior' though I believe for FSX we can now make VC's independantly of the model so the tie in exists in the config file.

That will be interesting, I look forward to the updated FSDS coming early december that allows inclusion of full FSX capabilities

yup I will be interested in getting my hands on the SDK's, I understand that with VC's you need to to do gauges by way of 3D modelling and 3DXML coding.

The ability to add V/C's as a separate model has answered my prayers as there are so many times where either:

A. a great external model is spoilt by a crappy internal one or
B. the interior cockpit does not reflect the fit of a new zealand aircraft of the same type.

The ability to change or mix and match will be great. I am hoping using this new new multi model set up we will also be able to add more parts to an existing aircraft, e.g an underslung bucket or loads for the helos, spray gear etc ??

Could be a lot of fun

One of the other neat things is demonstrated in the gliding, you now have a connection to the tug thats visible, and you interact so you have to 'fly' rather than just be pulled. Dont do this and you could crash both of you, snap your cable etc. Its fun watching the cable tense up as you go. In terms of your comment about helicopter water buckets dean, it could be that we see two independant models interacting in some way, chopper and bucket. Lots of potential to explore.

NOW you're talking!
Years ago Flight Unlimited 2 (?) had a brilliant glider setup, the cable release went 'Glunk" when you popped it.
It was the coolest thing, in a world populated by FS5 Legoplanes.
I wondered how long it would take for MS to pick up on that.
Off to Dick Smith then!
