yup that site is were the magazine says it got the chart from.

I have a 400W power supply, it says 380 and 400 max and proably about a $200-$250 budget by the end of the year and I see many have the 6800 and are happy with it so thatl be my first choice.

Who knows were you can see what sorty of mabo you have (to check compadable cards)

download cpu-z from http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
its a great little program, tells you all you need to know about your computer, including under mainboard, your graphics interface. hopefully it says AGP, with a maximum supported speed of 8x (otherwise you might suffer the same sad fate as Trolly did with his 4x AGP <_< )

oh what a great little aplication :D thanks!

So I have a 4X max supported AGP slot.

My motherboard is a "MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO.,LTD"
model: MS-6553

So can a 6800 run at 4x? if not ( :( ) then what could I get?

(Im fealing really anoyed right now, I just flew to nzwn from nzch and my t/o roll was at about 4fps and when I switched to spot itd take a bout 30seconds and 10stutters later for everything to load, etc etc etc)

Thanks a heap

Hmmm, it should work on AGP 4x, because most of the agp cards ive looked at are compatible with 4x and 8x. ;)

Also, what card are you using at the moment? I swear, even my old laptop with its 64mb onboard got more than 4fps...

as we all know from Trolly's experience, AGP 8x cards don't necessarily work in 4x slots. it sounds from this article that it depends on the card and motherboard combination. i'll try and dig some more info when i get time later this week
