Today we have winds comeing from 310degress and I saw a 767-300 on approach to rwy 29 (they come just south of our house as they turn final  ) I did'nt this they flwe them onto it?

The aircraft I see aproaching it are:

A320
733
C17!
C130
ATR72
Q300

But i never thougt a 767 would land on it

So what is rwy29 actuly used for?

funnily enough, i was looking at this last night.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christchur ... al_Airport
The primary runway (02/20) is oriented near perpendicular to Canterbury's Nor'wester föhn wind. For this reason, the secondary runway (11/29) is a cross-runway (at a right angle to the primary runway), and is used during Nor'westers by all aircraft up to and including Boeing 767s. The Boeing 777 has been known to use this runway in extreme conditions.

my grandmother also lives near the approach path for RWY29, so you always know when the nor'westers blowing (which seems to be the whole time)

oh really!kool, I never seen a 76 on app to 29 before, I always haveing a good look out when 29 is active.(next time ill go sit outside all day! lol) yeah I knw what the c17 can do I was just saying how neat it is to watch it fly over :P

btw I saw the 767 at about 3 this afternoon and the herc a few mins later and the C17 I saw a few weeks ago, and the 733, well theyr just a constant flow

I also thought that RWY29 didnt have a localizer, and the CH vor is a bit south of 29 so is it only visual? what do they do in IMC?
