I was just wondering, how do you all think the best option is for building those crucial hours to gain enough to hold an ATPL? There are many and varied ways of doing so, so if there are any pilots who have 'been there done that', perhaps you could share your experiences.
My idea so far goes like this...I finish my course in 3 years time, with 300 odd hours, a CPL, IFR, Basic Gas Turbine theory, C-Cat Instructor, ATPL theory, Twin time (about 100hrs maybe).
So I thought, first off Id like to try get a job in the tourist business or air charter work with the likes of Christian Aviation for example. Failing that become an instructor somewhere, and try find a job as mentioned above. Then once Ive got enough of all the pre-requisits join maybe Eagle Air, Air Nelson etc. and of course then after that onto Air New Zealand (right-hand seat of a 733!
) hahaAnyway whats the consensus out there???
