ANZ 737-200 names

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby JasFromOz » Sun Oct 22, 2006 5:17 pm

I've been trying to paint some of the old green/blue ANZ 737-200s but I'm having a hard time finding the aircraft names that are printed below the cockpit. So far, I've found the following;

ZK-NAA: Parek Areka (one word or two?)
ZK-NAY: Pirpiril
ZK-NAB: Parera
ZK-NAU: Pateke
ZK-NQC: Piopio
ZK-NAP: Parekareka
ZK-NAJ: Pere
ZK-NAV: Pukeko
ZK-NAS: Piwakawaka
ZK-NAX: Piere
ZK-NAD: Papango
ZK-NAT: Pihiohoi
ZK-NAW: Purourou

*edit: Thanks guys! This should keep me busy for a little while! Much appreciated!!! :clap:

That'd be Airwork's -200QC, formally ANZ's ZK-NQC 'Piopio'.

Jas,

NAD was originally known as 'Pukeko' with NAC and the early years with ANZ. The aircraft was sold to Presidential Airways in the U.S. sometime in 1986.

The NAD registration was then re-used on another 732 named 'Papango'

Anyway, hope this helps.

David.

From photos I have to hand I can add:

NAS = Piwakawaka
NAV = Pukeko
NAT = Pihiohoi
NAW = Purourou

I'll dig out some older material as I'm sure there are others.

Here you go - the definitive list. Courtesy of the Aviation Historical Society of NZ.

All but four of the New Zealand-registered Boeing 737 aircraft operated by Air New Zealand after the merger with NAC in 1978 carried the Maori name of a New Zealand bird. The four not given names were ZK-NAL, NAL2 and NAQ plus the ex Ansett aircraft ZK-NEE, sub-leased for two weeks in 1989. Although registered to Air New Zealand for a short period, ZK-JJD was never operated by the airline.
The following table lists the Maori name of the bird carried on the aircraft under the cockpit windows, with the common European name in brackets. Many names were used more than once.
ZK-NAA(2) Parekareka (Spotted Shag)
ZK-NAB(2) Parera (Grey Duck)
ZK-NAC Piripiri (Rifleman)
ZK-NAD Pukeko (Swamp Hen)
ZK-NAD(2) Papango (Black Teal)
ZK-NAE Purourou (Saddleback)
ZK-NAF(2) Pohowhera (Banded Dotterel)
ZK-NAH(2) Peho (Morepork)
ZK-NAI(2) Poaka (Pied Stilt)
ZK-NAJ Piere (New Zealand Robin)
ZK-NAK Pihoihoi (New Zealand Pipit)
ZK-NAM Pateke (Brown Teal)
ZK-NAP Parekareka (Spotted Shag)
ZK-NAQ(2) Peho (Morepork)
ZK-NAR Parera (Grey Duck)
ZK-NAS Piwakawaka (Fantail)
