Battlefield 2 is a good game but you'll need a pretty hefty computer to run it well. Or, god forbid, you could try FS2004.

I currently play - all online, I don't do single player much.

IL2 Sturmovik

About $50 for the DVD updated to latest version - see KiwiSim IL2 Forum) for more info. We use the Inspire server - yep, same box and TS as the FS2004 Multiplayer Server.

BF1942

Usually available at the Warehouse now for less than $30. Most of the old-school BF42ers have moved back to 42 after realising EA Games effed up BF2 and continue to do so with BF2142. Plenty of online action out there, we play Aussie clans twice a week on average. The mods for the game (Forgotten Hope and Desert Combat are the two biggest ones) are free and well supported.

PS My sig is from BF1942... Wingwalkers at beginning of the game to get to the control points as fast as possible.

RavenShield 3

Here's the bargain of the week. Less than $10 at Dick Smith
here. It plays well as single player, graphics are actually not bad.

Current patch (1.6) is only 20MB or so from a fresh install, you'll also need Punkbuster to play on online servers.

Company of Heroes

I haven't played it yet but have seen it in action only heard good things about it.

It's a RTS (Real Time Strategy) game, think Command and Conquer with better visuals and gameplay in ww2.

Most play using Hamachi, which is a peer to peer LAN game set-up, over the internet. Works with most games, it makes having a game with a mate on the internet so easy.

Get further info from the Non BF2 Gaming forum at BF2 NZ

Hope this helps :D

depends what you're looking for- what i consider to be a good game can be someone elses worst nightmare... so here's a list of games which i've played that you might enjoy:

Live for Speed - www.liveforspeed.net
full on hardcore race simulator- definitely a big step up from need for speed. in constant development, online racing is good fun. none of the tracks or cars are real, except for an F1 car. demo available.

V8 Supercars 3
if you don't like the full on realism of LFS, then try this. less realistic but graphically nice and has lots of racing modes including DTM and monster trucks. demo available

Mafia
fantastic game- its like GTA, except set in the 1930's. highly recommended- despite the fact its 4 years old, its significantly better than The Godfather (which was released this year), and in some respects GTA3 too. and because its older, you can pump up the graphics to full :D

Trackmania Nations
free download, can build tracks and race for our country online >nzflag< (not sure how many people still play this online tho)

You could try that block frenzy game.....

You should try orbiter2006, just goto, their website it's a free download.

You can takeoff from earth and if your really bored fly to the moon, its a long weekend if you start now......

Good simulator I quite like it, although that went on the list of things to get of my h/drive so theres room for this "15gb" fsx :plane:

If this doesn't help then definatly try the block game lol or just go get fsedit and make all your fs aircraft have 400,000lbs of thrust hehe thats fun

Yeah and because my form class is a computer room I managed to get about 20 of the 30 people in the class onto block frenzy during form time :D

And vegetating is always a good way to pass time as well...

Theres a good list there but you are missing 1 classic game.
Operation Flash Point Resistance. Get the GOTY(Game of the Year) version, as far as your previous FPS games are concerned they lack the challenge of OFPs AI. Another way is to wait and get Armed Assault which will be even better. Its far more fun and challenging and you have a much more flexible area to work in. Of course the good ole run and spray rooms with the nail gun won't work in OFP. BF2 is just another FPS, OFP is a different animal.
